Cars you wish you had owned

Lancia Delta Integrale. Any version, don't care! I had a 1600 twin cam turbo version many years ago which went very well. Always said I would have an Integrale one day but the prices just kept rising to the silly level they are now at.

I have a very long list of cars I wish I'd owned, but the Lancia is at the top.

I also always fancied a Saab 900 turbo Aero, but never quite got there...

My penchant for, and history with, old-school JDM means that my list is expansive. If I won Lotto, I'd rather have 10 restored JDM's than a modern supercar.

Here's a couple of examples of models I almost did own but foiled by procrastination...

As a youngster (many moons ago!) I always fancied a GTM coupé, thought they looked great and I loved the idea of a mid engined car. I’ve no idea if the reality lives up to the dream as I’ve never tried one. Westfield got me first 👍.

Back in my student days, had a chance to buy a lovely condition Lancia Beta Montecarlo just got cold feet at the last moment, knowing that if anything went badly wrong, I couldn't afford to loos e the money tied up in it, or pay for expensive work. (Pre internet days, when you couldn't easily find out how to do things, if the relevant workshop manual wasn't available off the shelf or in the library.)

Also had a chance to buy a lovely low age, low mileage Capri 280, and hesitated too long, the prices suddenly jumped and by the time I phoned back to say I'd have it if it was still available, it was already out of reach.

Have gone the other way too. Sold a Toyota Celica Carlos Sainz GT4, a year or two before they started to become collectable. Doh

Nearly thought about buying a Jenson Interceptor when I was 18. Luckily my dad talked me out of it.

I had a lovely Monte……and to my constant regret, sold it to pay for double glazing…can you believe it :(  The only saving grace is that it’s still going strong - it outlasted the windows.

Not a 280 but did have a 2.8i for a good few years. It was a local 1 owner car with low miles and in perfect condition. Total hoot to drive.

I always fancied a Peugoet 106Gti but couldn't afford the purchase price or insurance in the late 90s- ended up with an Uno.

A Toyota Celica GT4, Lancia Delta HF Integrale or Metro 6R4 were always on my wish list but couldn't afford any of them at the time, and probably still can't now. I did look at a low mileage Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 last year (very similar to my gran's old car) and regret not buying it as the prices has jumped up again.

I still miss my Fiat Seicento Schumacher Sporting and oddly enough Uno 1.0. Both were like go karts, you really had to drive them hard, but most have rusted away I think over the last 20 years.

Fiat Seicento Schumacher Sporting

No doubt endorsed because Fiat owned Ferrari and Ferrari owned Schumaker :t-up:

I’d have to sell the house and the OH, then live in my caravan but i think it would be worth it.
