Richard (OldStager)
Losing track of what day we are up to, but hey ho... No Westy content at all, but did have a great trip down to Malvern in a tintop, a freind had to take his wife there and I tagged along as well. Sadly we arrived in the evening so the place was shut, but I have always wanted to see where Morgan actually are, hoping to return and do one of their tours I keep hearing about.

Richard (OldStager)
Thanks Gary, Still haven't got into North Wales yet, weather quite grim at mo - Typical me timing really, the week after the hottest we have ever seen in the UK and I choose the week after where it hasn't stopped raining 🤣

Rory's Dad
Well it rained here overnight - first proper rain in 6 weeks or so. Cleared up now... Everything still just as dry as a crisp!
Richard (OldStager)
Right well, thanks to a cousins schoolchild who gave me a bug, I have been pretty much AWOL as far as driving was concerned, with many days in bed and Lemsips on tap, I feel almost normal again, so today was my first day out for over a week... And what a day it was. The many photos can be seen elsewhere on the forum here so I won't post them all again, but my first car show for 30 years ( car racing and dogs got in the way) was attended today. Just a local show but once there was a reminder of what I had been missing all those years. Getting there was a tad fraught for a mate of mine who had his front calipers sieze on the way there, he let them cool down and met me at the house I am staying at. We drove there slowly ( well he did 😁) and managed to get onto the show ground with minutes to spare. Great day was had meeting both old and new friends, given I feel a lot better expect more very soon.

Richard (OldStager)
Just like buses - you don't see one for ages then 3 turn up at once... Another car meet attended this evening, just a small rural pub meet with my ( rebranded) old Truiumph car club, which now allow all classics to join. As yesterday met some old and new friends very enjoyable night with some interesting cars and bikes. Mini Clubman 1275GT which had a slightly hotter engine in it - Cossie . I picked a good week to get better as another one to attend tomorrow night as well. More soon.
Richard (OldStager)
Short post about the heat Geez it's a tad warm, had to go into Chester to collect some spare parts for me and a brake master cylinder following my freinds seized brakes on Sunday, whilst on the move it was fine but once stopped was awful, a pic taken just before I left the parts place Rather glad I slapped the sun cream on before I left. Hopefully there will be another post later tonight after yet another car meeting, just hope it cools down a bit...
Richard (OldStager)
Erm.... Not sure what to say here other than tonight didn't really go to plan... I picked a mate up to go to this local car meet, he then said he could only stay an hour because he had to be at work in a bit, we got to the meet and chatted to folks as you do... as I looked at my phone the hour had long past, so we started the car and set off, not wanting my mate to be late I did a ... erm race start from the lights and promptly blew the diff !!!!!. Another mate who was following saw what happened and took my passenger to work, as I sat at the side of the road ( crying) , a call back to the meet resulted in no one having a tow rope, so tried the Wirral WSCC group to see if someone could help THANKFULLY a member called Peter ( not the one I met on Sunday ) responded as he was in the next village about 5 mins away, with tow rope in hand we attached to the mates car who had been following ( having dropped my other mate off at work\) we slowly got the Westy back to base. After a deduction in spinning wheels and props etc, it has blown the diff, certainly taken teeth off the crown wheel as a minimum. I do have a spare diff, but that is 80 miles away, so working on a plan to collect diff and refit it here. So no posts for a while about driving etc. signing off now, rather peeved and annoyed.

Well my own stupid fault, but it was obviously on it's way out anyway, so lucky it failed where it did and not in the middle of the sticks on my own. Just making up a Burtons shopping list for bits I don't have at home, gaskets ,nose seal etc etc. All part of the Westy fun ( or so I keep telling myself 🤣)
Richard (OldStager)
And we are back, hopefully as long as the weather holds, this week should see a few North Wales trips, most of which are planned already , so we will see how we go. Following yesterdays initial test of the new diff, I took the car out again today for a bit of motorway driving as well as B roads, car went well and no leaks or noises (so far) . This photo is of a house I was hoping to talk with the present owner about. I had found a load of old photos of the same house one of which dates to at least 100 years ago ( if not more) and thought the current owners might like it, sadly no one was in, so will call back in the week.
Richard (OldStager)
Rain all day stopped play, but did manage to get out this evening. I wanted to go back to the house above and deliver my photos, and within sight is the pub at which a local car meet was held. Fortunately the owner was in this time and even invited me in, as suspected the house was gutted on the inside , I even got to stand in the same bedroom that 53 years ago I had stood in as 4 year old, anyway the owner was well chuffed with all my photos and we are keeping in contact on Whatsapp. I left the house and 1 minute later arrived at the pub car meet, not exactly a big turn out ( although the rain that day may have put folks off) , took just a few pics . Tomorrow (weather permitting) I am due to visit Llangollen Motor Muesum, as an old friend owns it, no idea if he will open the museum for me but it is just a catch up with old mates, we will see. More soon
Richard (OldStager)
Upon opening the curtains this morning, rain - legging it down... Great another day wasted. However by mid morning it had stopped and by lunchtime the roads were dry again, YAY.. First call as I mentioned above was to an old friend from my Triumph days, he now owns Llangollen motor muesum , since it was left to him after his father passed on. Many great thing lay inside Huge prize if you know what this is ? ^^^^^ Far too many to post here , and if I did you won't need to visit would you?. Anyway, leaving my friend to continue restoring his cars, I took the scenic way back over the Horseshoe Pass, Denbighshire ,weather was just right and the roads over that way are stunning for our cars. On the way up Anyone for some slate ?. And then at the peak, stunning views Sandwiches and soft drink consumed, I left Denbighshire to head to Flintshire, this was another find the owner of a house task. Having located around a few dozen photos from the 1920;s up the the 1980;s when my great grandmother died, Sadly the owners were not in. I went old school on the way home Got home just before it got dark, then spent an hour getting the mud and other things of the car erm, something died this afternoon 🙁 I was at loggerheads as wether or not to get fuel today ?, 🤣 More Welsh runs planned More soon
