Does using the GPS function on a mobile use data?

Sorry, I was rambling ;)

I usually find a satnav will provide plenty of ‘interesting’ diversions. Still use maps myself and the satnav in my MB is a blithering idiot so I never trust it.

Can’t recall if I mentioned it elsewhere or earlier, but I fitted a cycle speedo to the car long ago after a diff swap ‘cos I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of getting the speedo recalibrated.

Yes, it was on my build thread, when we were chatting about the cable in the footwell. Starting to regret the whole 90 deg conversion now, and should have just put up with having a cable by my feet all the time. I could of course remove that adapter and refit my old cable, but thats a whole load of work with 3 days to departure, so I just can't justify ripping out the interior again, only to have to do it all again when Speedy Cables eventually provide me with what I ordered - not one with bits missing.

Ah, that was it. I used a speedo app to calibrate the Midlana so given it was only a one-time brief use, wasn't bothered about any background data use. Different matter for a longer trip.
