It now costs more to fill my range rover up with petrol than it does to insure it. Go figure!

Its going to have to take its course now, a runaway train.

Hold on tight.

Putin knew what his antics would impose on the west.

I think Putin has been influencing gas/oil prices for a while now, in preparation for his latest bit of imperialism. I suspect his hope was to distract the world with high fuel prices so he could just carry on without interruption.

Take look at how he has been messing with OPEC+, and of course, let's not forget just how happily the rest of OPEC would take western money coming from inflated prices while they control output.

I'd pay £5 /L if that's what it takes to beat Putin. Small price to pay for freedom from fascism.

Funny you should say that Chris, I went to fill up this afternoon and went to pay, there were two other motorists and the cashier all talking about the prices and all agreed as do I regarding your £5 per litre

Of course, it's more complicated, but ultimately, I think we should be looking very closely at the oil companies and OPEC. Most of the price rises are based on projections and assumptions of what might happen, not what is actually extant. Seems a bit bogus to me that the people who make the money get to decide the price.

I don't think of myself as left, right or centre as regards politics, but I do feel some things should not be left to the vagaries of capitalism and personal gain. Energy being one of them. I think this war is going to make some people think about energy independence and security with a bit more clarity than they have to date. There is a slim chance it might actually provide some impetus towards a more renewable solution, but at the least, it should make us consider just how much of our mineral wealth we have given away to oil companies. Just searching out and exposing the corrupt politicians that did the dirty deals would be a start. Recovering ownership of our gas & oil would be good too.

The oil companies pay almost no tax - they get massive tax breaks for decommissioning old production facilities. Errrr, so, they make massive profits from those facilities, then get massive tax benefits to close them down. That just ain't right. If it wasn't massively and obscenely profitable, they simply wouldn't do it, so why don't we do it ourselves as a nation? OPEC nations seem to manage it just fine.

(Aramco, the largest oil company is state owned, PetroChina, the next largest is state owned)

£250 to fill the average tank,I don't think it will ever come to that.

But at the minute there looks no end to the price increases.

Goverment must be sweating.
