Kit Car Insurance - recomendations please?

Who are people using for insurance nowdays and any recomendations?

Ive been trying to get a quote off @A-Plan Insurance THATCHAM but without luck all week. Unfortunately it seems thay have put in place internal process that make it very difficult to get a specialist kit car quote if your an existing high net value customer.

I filled in the online request for a call last wekeend. Thatcham rang me on Monday morning promptly - great - I can get it sorted now. Bloke says I can see your an existing client - yes I say so this should be simple as nothing changed in my details. Ah says bloke, but since you have a high net worth policy with us, we have to refer you to Wilmslow brnach who mange you. Do you have their number......

Ok - i was ready to buy a service, but he let me ring them instead. Will they be able to deal with a kit car I ask hoping this might allow the chap to quote me and get one with life - alas not -  Oh yes says he.

so I rang Wilmslow, chap there says oh kit car - we will have to see if we can add that to your existing policy. Well i dont want to do that I want a specialist policy. Oh I need to ask someone, but there on the phone. I;ll get them to call you back.We confirmed details and that was the last I heard.

Im sure A-plans internal process to avoid competing with themselves is necessary but why limit a customer who wants to buy something by putting up obstructions to a sale in this day and age?

So who can I ring tomorrow am (bearing in mind its a saturday), chat for a bit, pay some money and be covered?

I have the Sigma with AiB, been very helpful to deal with, no issues. But the other cars are with A Plan.

@A-Plan Insurance THATCHAM Carlie, can you help?

I moved to Adrian Flux just over 12 months ago, I wanted to add my 27 year old son who drives the westi on track days and has a customised MX5. A plan wanted almost double to add him, AIB were very competitive but AF beat both by quite a margin. When the renewal came through this year I half expected it to have gone up loads but no, a small, expected and acceptable increase so stayed with them.

It was a toss up between A Plan and AIB last time. The quotes were pence apart but AIB reduced their further so I went with them (to be fair A Plan then offered to match AIB but I had already said yes to AIB at that point). Not had a problem with either company. Adrian Flux and Footman James have both been competitive in the past as have Frank Pickles.

So i rang thatcham again this morning and spoke to the helpful Hannah and said I didnt want to be refered to the private client at Wilmslow. She took a load of details and all sorted.

Thanks - It was that internal process that wasnt helpful and further more didnt make me feel like a "Private Client" or whatever special term you use - I hate those clasifications in businesses as better to treat everyone special - which has always been my experience previously from when I first walked into the Worcester branch to insure my first motorcycle.
