steve wilson Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 Whats the differance between mpeg and realmedia downloads apart from mpeg being longer Quote
gee_fin Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 Not a lot these days regarding quality. Realtime/Realplayer files are actually very high quality very highly compressed and I prefer them due to their smaller size. However, a lot of people dislike RealPlayer is at takes over you entire desktop if you accidentally forget to unclick one option. The beauty of Mpeg is that everyone (pretty much) can access them as MediaPlayer is standard on practically every PC. However, they are large in size. You can use compressors (most common one is DivX) to get the size down (and still retain the quality) but not a lot of people have these installed, and those who don't generally get turned off by the hassle involved in setting up the Codec. We're conducting a little experiment to see what is the most popular format on our site (current stats here) and as you can see, uncompressed Mpegs are more popular by about 10:1. Graeme. Quote
