Fat Albert Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 This isn't an anti French thread, its an anti politician thread After all, think about the process you have to go through to become and remain, a politician. Anybody with drive, ambition, competence or skill will do practically anything else, all that's left is the dregs
Warren E Smith Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 I agree I don't dislike the French as a whole. I just dislike all French Politicians & hypocrisy. I (believe it or not) know a few French people who are actually quite nice. I also on the other hand know some who are a trust worthy as Chirac... "C'est la vie, Mon Ami"
mb893 Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Just found out that the Google page about French victories/defeats was a spoof done by a Canadian student (check the address bar)... or did everybody know this? See here: http://www.newsday.com/news....s-print
russbif Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Call me a cynic if you like, but, I bet when the confilict is over the yanks find loads and loads of 'weapons of mass destruction', these will probably be adorned with 'made in Iraq labels' but are currently en-route from the good old US of A. I personally lost interest when our revered leaders had to compile a dossier of lies to convince us that war was necessary. I cannot come to terms with the fact that despite all the satellite surveillance and electronic eavesdropping facilities that both the americans and us have they were unable to direct the weapons inspectors to anything tangible. (rant mode off) bl**** lovely weather and my cars of the road Russ
Captain Colonial Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 Call me a cynic if you like... You're a cynic.
peterpeter Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 well said russbif. Your point pisses on the whole pro war argument. Whatever the hidden motives behind the French veto, .They at least listen their public. I am sick of people who write about how gutless "they" are and how brave "we" are. People are all the same.. Goverments and politicians are different. If your so brave, why arent you in Iraq now?? Just because, British soldiers have balls, doesnt mean you do. You sound like football fans. "we" did this and "we" did that.... You didnt do ****. and you probably never will.
GaryFoster Posted March 22, 2003 Posted March 22, 2003 Buzz, Yeah the french are spineless, casualties during WW2. USSR 21,300,000 Germany 7,060,000 France 810,000 England 388,000 US 295,000 Don't talk f***** ****. Have you been reading the Sun / Watching Fox ? don't get sucked into it - look up propaganda in the dictionary. You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. A large % of my family are Military and are in the Gulf as we speak. Gary
Captain Colonial Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 casualties during WW2.US 295,000 Er, 405,399 American service personnel, to be precise, when those who were wounded and died later are taken into account. Every one of them a hero. They gave their lives not because America was under threat, but to liberate those people in far off lands who had their freedom either taken away from them or threatened. And since when does the number of people who were killed in a war measure the courage of the nationalities? It only measures how effective their commanding officers were. Sheesh. I wasn't going to comment on this thread. I practically bit through my tongue once or twice. Being an American in England sometimes has its drawbacks. I'm not a war monger, nor am I a peace protester. We Americans are damned if we do something (like what we're doing now), and damned if we don't do something (when we didn't take out Saddam in 1991). Then, after we help and sacrifice to free people like the French, they spit in our faces (yes, literally in my case, when I was in France once, just for being a Yank). If you think the French resent and dislike the English, you've got it made compared to being a Yank in France. There's gratitude for you. Hey, you know what? That's cool. We're used to it. We're used to being hated. We know that whatever we do, we're going to be despised. No problemo. We can cope with it. But we can't cope with ourselves, if we don't stand up and fight for what we believe in when it's threatened. Anyone think Americans treat everything as a simple case of good guys and bad guys? Let me tell you something. You're right. And you know who the bad guys are? They're us. WE BE BAD. We're the baddest-assed sons-of-b***hes that ever jogged in Nikes. We're three-quarters grizzly bear and two-thirds car wreck and descended from a stock market crash on our mother's side. You take Germany, France and Spain, roll them together and it wouldn't give us enough room to park our cars. We're the big boys, y'all, the original, giant, economy-sized new and improved A*** kickers of all time. Anyone want to say our country's never been invaded? You're right, because I'd like to see the dimwitted power crazy foreigner who'd have the guts to try it, instead of the cowards who ordered brain-dead morons to fly planes into buildings full of innocent people from all nations. We drink napalm to get our hearts started in the mornings. A rape and a mugging is our way of saying "cheerio". Hades can't hold our sock-hops. We walk taller, talk louder, spit further, f*ck longer and buy more things than you can name. I'd rather be a junkie in New York City than French any day of the week. How many peace protesters are on the electoral register, I wonder? If they don't like the current situation, how did they vote in 2001? Did they vote? If they didn't vote or aren't registered to do so, then BZZZZT! - sorry, they can't play the whingeing game! The war has started. With luck, it will finish quickly and the deaths and injuries will be minimal. Get over it already.
