2015 golf tdi Blue motion

I'm going to look at a vw golf tdi blue motion tech match dsg, it's on a 15 plate and only done 14k miles , help please on anything I should be looking  for or any known faults,

With such a low mileage diesel, you should probably budget for a possible clogged DPF.

 

Also, best to look up symptoms of problems with the DSG gearbox (2 versions, a 6 speed wet clutch and a 7 speed dry clutch) before you drive it so you know what to look for. Later ones were much more reliable but if they have problems they are very expensive to fix.

Looking for a new daily driver myself and decided against a diesel. There are plenty of towns and cities looking to ban diesels from their centres during the day and that situation is not going to go away. If that isn't something that one needs to think about then OK. But I am in a similar position with a use case that takes me in to town centres during the working day so it's on my radar...

I shall be replacing my 56 plate 2.2 litre X-Type diesel sooner or later after ten years of ownership and I have also decided against diesel. My reasoning is different though, I do relatively few miles these days so fuel consumption is less important than once it might have been, and diesels aren't good for short runs either. At the moment we use the X-Type for longer runs and the Good Lady's Nissan Leaf for local journeys. It doesn't care whether it's cold or not and a hundred yards or fifteen miles are all the same as far as engine wear is concerned. But paying two lots of insurance and two lots of depreciation etc., is a nonsense if there's a car which would cover both requirements. The best I have found is a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. It is plug-in so cheap to fuel mostly, it properly self charges so you can have a full charge when you arrive in a ULEZ destination, and the electric range is up to 30 miles so local trips are covered cheaply and without starting the IC engine. Sadly Mitsubishi have left UK for new sales, but their service centres are still here so maintenance wouldn't be a worry. They command a good price at the moment for good recent models.

Thanks for the replies,  deals been done picking it up Saturday,  I'm not really bothered about going into Manchester centre or London so that's not a problem, I'm doing 75 mile a day a roads and motorway so just looking for something more economical than the type r.

If the engine code is 1900cc. BXE, AVOID.

Plenty of rods have broke on these and that goes for Seat, Skoda and Audi versions as well.  Check the build sticker in under the boot carpet or in the first page in the service book.

I have the park assist on my car, had it 3 years now and never brave enough to use it and let the car park itself 🤣

Watched a video on it looks strange, probably easier just to park it

One of my cars has a reversing camera which new to me and which I can't bring myself to use. Just doesn't feel right. I keep meaning to find a car park and practice with it to see if I can get over myself. What are the chances? :oops:

2.0 is not one of the dodgy engines but I wouldn't buy a Derv motor anyway. Unless you're doing taxi mileage, they are no cheaper to run than a small petrol car, just too much to go wrong and expensive to repair.  Not to mention the increasing number of cities that are clamping down on Derv motors.

Get over yourself? No chance!  :p

Use the reversing camera, perhaps. There's one on my Good Lady's Leaf - four actually - and the pillars are so hefty that there's little option but to use the cameras. Keep them clean though or they're useless. I prefer the ultrasonic distance warnings on my ancient X-Type.

Don’t mention diesels and DPF’s! 
 

had a faulty headlamp, and a faulty vaporiser, (part of the DPF system) to sort out for this years Ranger MoT. 
 

Just shy of £1200, all in. The bulk of it being changing the vaporiser  (a kind of combined fuel injector and glo-plug, used during DPF a cleaning cycles, to heat everything up over 6/700 degrees C). And then having changed it, to get the DPF to actually do a regen and clean up enough to turn off the dash warning lights. Five days of manually run cleaning cycles it took to clean the damn filter. Heaven only knows what the final cost would have been if it had needed a new DPF to.
