Pre Lit Ally bodied - Info required

Hi all,

 

I recently purchased this Westfield 7 that I now find is a PreLit one and apparently very rare.  It was raced at Brands Hatch then later shipped to Japan and raced at Suzuka.  In 2006 it was shipped to Australia.  I really don't know much else about it.  Just wondering if anyone might know about it.

I'm told that there were 132 PreLit cars made.  Does anyone know if they all still exist?  Is there a list or registry?

I had a prelit but a fibreglass body one. Theres a book with some of the westfield history about but I cant remember what its called. I think it says theres around 300 prelits. Theres a few been in here over the years but not as many ali body ones

I have a fiberglass bodied pre-lit. roughly 300 made, the chassis numbers ran up to 1988 roughly after the litigation chassis numbers changed denoting SE the year number and chassis number.

So here's some information I've been given regarding pre-lits...

 

So exact numbers built are.

Early version with Triumph uprights and more aluminium body work 132 total.

Later SE variant with all Ford running gear and more fibreglass body work 605 total.

Making 737 total prelits built.

At chassis #7 Karl, yours should be using the Triumph Spitfire front uprights.

mine was sold as a kit, so no engine number stamp

from what I know, yours would be chassis #84, mine is 71

"F" at end for Ford ??    Mine has "KL", presumably K for Kent engine and LHD

700+ sounds like way too many for a little company in such a short time

Sadly the engine # on my chassis plate doesn't match the motor in it.

 

I've ordered that Westfield Story book to find out some more about them.

 

Either way I'm still very happy picking up this car for a song.

Hello, 

I’m in LA, California. I got lucky and found an early prelit Ali car. (Thank you Damion for the info) 

I think it’s an early 1983 car has an Jo  cross flow 1275 MG with 4 spd no  sync 1st gear. The car is stock outside of an MSD (I might remove now I know it’s early) and an electric fan which I’m leaving since it HOT here. It was in need of TLC when I got it so I’m just slowly getting the car sorted. The car kinda fell in lap so I’m open to any Information if I’m wrong
