Robin Parker (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO
What video editing software is everyone using? The one I was using has changed and now is charging to use. I've downloaded another, Wondershare Filmora, but even though I chose the "no watermark" option, it put the watermark on. Being a typical Yorkshireman, I don't want to pay for the software, so does anyone know of any free ones available? Here is the video,
corsechris
IMovie is free. Pretty decent for ‘free’ software. Assuming you have a Mac of course.

corsechris
Any help? https://www.techradar.com/uk/best/free-video-editing-software In my working life I supported a variety of video editing kit, to varying degrees, but it was all professional stuff. When I first started you needed 3 VT machines and a great deal of skill! At the end, it was all computer based, Cinegy, Avid, Premiere Pro and FCPX. I much preferred looking after VT machines……
S2T
I use Wondershare too and prompted by your comment revisited the programme. In the options I have I used Wondershare Filmora X and have just done a quick edit, the end result had no watermark on it. I didnt log in and on the display panel cannot see any options re watermark I doubt I paid for it back in the day If that doesnt work try Movie Maker it is a free Microsoft programme but a bit 'clunkier' than Wondershare

Went to visit a client years ago, who was a free lance filmer/editor for commercial stuff. After we'd had our meeting, knowing I was interested, he showed me his editing studio. Amazing place, but at one point I'm looking round expecting to see a bank of big pro Betamax recorders, and not seeing any, looking confused. He laughed and pointed out the 2m high rack I was stood next to, was his recorders, they were just so damn big, I hadn't even registered them!! - He still had 16 and 32mm film stock splicing and transfer facilities, too. I think we ended up chatting in the studio for longer than the proper meeting took!
corsechris
My first experiences involved these…. and these….. We had a few film dubbing and editing suites as well. All 16mm stuff though. First bit of CGI I saw involved using a mainframe computer to render 1 frame at a time, then assemble-edit them one by one. Took a while, obviously, so they were usually set up to go overnight. More than once, I’d come in the next day and get called in to find a sad looking VPR-2 that had got fed up of passing the same piece of tape back and forth all night and had crapped out in spectacular fashion, sawing the tape in half, or just seizing up due to tape stiction. You youngsters with your fancy home-based NLE have no idea…. Ah, happy days.

VR2000 at the top, VPR2 at the bottom. Spent many hours in the guts of both back in the dim & distant.
LoneWolf
Davinci Resolve. Very powerful and quite user friendly, at least for the basic stuff 😁 Ah, and it's free.
