He says it took months, years even, to learn to fly it. Unless it became computerised it wouldn't be too practical as a weapon would it? The F117 Nighthawk is famously known to be aerodynamically unstable and requires a LOT of compute power to allow the pilot to actually sit there and fly it. I'd be reasonably confident the quadmovr could be made fully autonomous without huge effort these days. Although "huge effort" needs qualifying. It'd be big effort for an individual or group of enthusiasts whereas I suspect it'd be a lot less effort for the military or it's suppliers... corsechris
I found the piloting more impressive than the device in a way. I built a 4 rotor drone way back when they were very new and despite me being a competent RC heli flyer at the time, that thing was almost impossible. It was expensive too. Fast forward just a few years and you could buy a toy drone kit, complete, for about £10 that outperformed it in every way, and was effortless to fly. Just down to the advances in electronics and sensors really. Wouldn’t be surprised if that drone could be made relatively easy to fly if the guy wanted to - he did say he was doing it without gyros I think. Having started in RC helis before gyros were really out there, I can attest to how hard that is to do. It was impressive though.
