darthurs Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 This weekend I was kindly taken out for a ride in a Megablade. I lasted an hour of a four hour drive around the country roads of rivington. What a stupidly fast car, I nearly sufforcated under the acceleration, and still thinking about things now I don't know how we got round some of the corners. It was a frightening, life changing experience. Can't wait untill mine is built... Dan Quote
adhawkins Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Haven't really had many to be honest. Blasting around country roads to be met by a Range Rover hurtling toward me on my side of the road is probably favourite... Andy Quote
thos Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 I thought it was just a normal sideways off ...... until the 5 people behind the armco started running ..... luckily stopped about 6 foot before the armco, put the car back on the trailor and went home to change my underpants. Slicks in the damp, wont do that again, I was talked around to the 'theres no standing water' way of thinking ... Quote
oioi Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 gf told me she thought she was pregnant when out in the westie later found out this was just cunning ploy to make me slow down. Quote
Turbowestie.co.uk Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 I took mine out in the rain this weekend (the first time its been out in the wet) to demostrate it to a buyer, i gave it a foot full to show what it would do ............as you do, ended up with 3rd gear (65 mph) wheel spin when it came on boost and spun it on a straight bit of road. We ended up broad side on the wrong side of a single carriage way. Needless to say the passenger turned a funny off-white colour. He is still contumplating the purchase........Oppppsss Quote
flanker7 Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Never getting it finished and the spiralling cost!!!! Quote
PhilD Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 When my bonnet took off as I accelerated hard through a sweeping corner! Luckily girlfriend was driving behind and noted which field it landed in. Very little damage though. All this on the way back from registering it. Quote
adhawkins Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Phil, do you really have an elliptical steering wheel? I suspect the sizes for your avatar aren't quite correct. On the avatar site, click on the 'avatar' link next to your image(if you haven't already). This will scale it to the right size for an avatar. Then note the sizes displayed next to the image, and make sure you enter them into your control panel on the boardroom. Andy Quote
DickieB Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 WSCC Mallory track day 2000. About 2 months after I'd bought it. Pouring rain, too much right foot exiting Gerards, and we're spinning. Off into the infield at about 85. Stopped spinning when both wheels hit the tractor's tracks at the same time and threw me parallel to the barrier. Managed to complete the rest of the 15 min session then back to the pits for a grilling off Auntie Barb. Never spun so badly since!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Jan Coombes Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Car catching fire at a sprint, in york. Maybe not in any danger of dieing but I was so shook up it was scarry Quote
moomin Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 most memorable pant-tainting moment: nipped out of gap turning right out of T-junction with limited visibility (so I'd slackened the harness to lean forward), realise there's a bus coming from the left, so hoofed it, get out there with a bit of wheelspin, but I'm turning right... need to straighten up, err I'm still going right, and the rear wants to overtake the front. over-correct with opposite-lock, tankslapper ensues and my hands slip right off the wheel for the second correction. the woman in the fiesta I was going head-on with looked somewhat concerned, and I have to admit to snapping the throttle shut on that one to gather it all up! and progress gently along the road at 30mph (and heart at 200bpm) And one gross-misjudgement which always makes me glad to be alive in retrospect: blatting home along a rain-drenched A5 from se7ens list Ireland tour last year, having a scream me and one other car and a quietish road on Sunday evening, stuck behind a truck for ages, I'm looking to nip past, a short clear straight just enough to nip through, the truck indicates RIGHT which my brain took to mean it was clear to pass... then in my mirror just after I passed it, it turned off. what on earth was I thinking (other than about getting home after over 1000 miles in three days in the rain)?!? also moomin Quote
simoke Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Contemplating buying a Westy, got let out in a brand new factory demonstrator. Everything doing well until we came to a roundabout and I realised why narrow shoes are a must. Left the braking very late and then hit the brake and throttle at the same time. Managed to squeeze into a gap in the traffic. Don't think Richard Smith was impressed, still let us buy one though! Quote
windy Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Seeing Mr Mason take to the grass as I followed him into the fast bend on Anglesey circuit and almost disappearing into the sea Quote
the bear Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 The first 10 miles after buying it, I was so scared I'd forgotten to breath, still I matched the colour of the gel coat (poiple) Quote
