Jim RS Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 I've been repairing 4s/2s carbs since the 70's and know a fair amount of details for their operation/failings, but this video is amazing at showing how the petrol droplets form and are then atomised to produce good detonation. Saying that a lot of the engines I worked on could have run with a direct tube as they were so basic and worn🤪. One of the tests we did was blowing air from the intake side and checking that the fuel distributed properly, a bit risky with actual fuel but fun doing it. Quote

Thinking I would make it go faster I removed the airbox and filter... Top speed had been 30mph, now modified it went 25 Thankfully I am far wiser - I think. Quote

I can see and know how you would achieved such results..... been there done that, even set fire to a small corner of the thankfully brick-built outbuildings at home..... I've still got a box full of 1980's MINKUNI carbs for FS1E mopeds....... they are so basic yet worked so well, I suppose that's the Japanese engineering ! Quote

Oh wow Mikuni carbs, yes,forgot about those , Honda used those a lot back then or was it suzuki?, passage of time fades my small brain... Quote
