Bristol/Bath area - Karting evening.

A group of the Bristol and Bath area members met for a karting evening last night.

The event was held over two sessions.  The first was just practice so we could all learn our way around the track.  After a break, we all went out on track again for the race.  Rather than being a conventional standing start grid format it was just based upon lap times.  Whoever got the fastest lap time was the winner.

It was great to see everyone as it has been a while since we all got together.  The event was held at Teamsport Karting in Avonmouth.  I had been there a few years ago but it was good to see the track layout had changed and there were some new karts.  There was a real contrast in grip from the upstairs mezzanine and the ground floor concrete, the latter being much more slippery in the cold conditions.

There were a few crashes with yellow or red flags.  One was me.  I came right out of my seat!  I felt OK straight afterwards but I was suffering when I woke up this morning!

After we came off the track everyone was keen to see how they had got on.  The fastest time was one of the ladies.  I managed midfield so I have more work to do!

All in all, a fun evening.  Many thanks to Ross for organising everything.
