It's a fairly lengthy process. Need to flat them back. Primer. Coarse silver base coat, 3 or 4 coats of candy then clear.

Indeed it is - and you need to get the silver base coat absolutely bob-on too. Used to paint bikes back in the 80’s when Candy Apple Red was the colour to have for your Kawasaki 😁

Normally I shy away from opinions on the aesthetics of someone else’s car. However when it comes to cam covers I really think there is only a few that work.

 

BLACK

DARK, DARK GREY / Anthracite 

RED (only in certain circumstances) basically when the original engine had red as standard.

 

Also the rough texture paint that say Honda use always looks ace on cam covers.

That's what's on there just now. It looked great at first but its not hard-wearing at all and if it gets grubby it's a pain in the A*** to clean. If the covers were metal I'd have had them done in powder coat wrinkle as it's tons better than aerosol but as they are plastic I don't have that option.
