One of the first I remember was towing my sons race car to a rolling road. Tyre blew.. no dramas.. pulled into a convenient layby.. didn't have a jack! 😞 Luckily there was a snack van in the layby with a bottle jack. Lesson learnt! (sorry for thread drift - but many of us use trailers for track days 😁) When I first got the trailer it was fitted with 10" rims and skinny little crossply tyres. I upped them to 12" with beefier tyres. 8 ply with higher load ratings. Trailertek have a good selection. I think one of the problems with trailer tyres is they often dont see big mileages, so they can get very old before they wear out.

That was my problem, I ended up treating the trailer tyres as I would a car and replace every 5 years or so.
Paul Aspden (MoFast)
The other issue with trailer tyres is that they lay dormant for long periods which leads to the tyres degrading. I read somewhere that tyres actually release an agent or something chemical that keeps them conditioned as they roll along and get warmed / flexed. They need exercising regularly in a way.
