Good evening. I'm just introducing myself Mark and my son Harvey. We have recently bought a kit for the FW Special Edition. I'm now looking forward to everything Westfield as it's been a dream of mine for a long time to get my hands on one of these kits. Nice to meet you all .

Welcome !

Hopefully some of our more sedentary members might understand Newbie’s vs “Noobs” (forgive me - its a bit of a recent “in joke” 😁 )

Many thanks for the welcome guys. And we are in Radcliffe on Trent, Nottingham.

And i will post some pics when we get a bit further. Brake and fuel lines done so far and i think all ok (i hope).

Next job the wiring loom, which has come all nicely labelled up but I'm not quite sure where to start with it. Is the manual a bit vague here or is it just me ? I will have a dig around on some build diaries.

Bye for now, Mark (& Harvey)

Hi Mark & Harvey

Can't comment on newer builds/wiring looms but I would imagine the manual is a little vague (mine was back in 2001).

I think your best bet would be to start a build diary or at least get some pics up as there will be areas where we could assist you in (dare I say this.......) doing some things slightly differently??

I built mine pretty much as per manual but my current rebuild has highlighted how I have now done things different and hopefully for the better...

I appreciate you want to follow the manual to assist in IVA as I did to help me through the SVA (as it was at the time). But there is always room for improvement or making it easier to work on at a later date.

Don't laugh, but I, like a lot of people didn't have a camera phone back then so I never uploaded pics but I'm sure if I did then things could've been a little different??

:ww: from sunny Somerset.

+1 for a build diary, helped me immensely on my build. Good way to tap into the wealth of knowledge from members on here.

The Sport 250 build manual may be a source of useful information to supplement the FW manual I presume you’ve got. A lot of the build is common to all Westfields.

Anybody know how much difference between the Sport 250 and our FW SE ?

All I had was the FW manual when I built my 250 (plus help on here), most of the basics are common.

Differences that spring to mind off the cuff are:

Steering rack position and column layout

Cooling system

Ecu/engine electrics

Windscreen and rollbar height

Body panel positioning datum’s plus bonnet hinging etc

Not an exhaustive list, would suggest using the 250 manual to supplement the FW manual in your case, plus a build diary to tap into the wealth of experience on here.

Don’t forget the unofficial motto on here: “there’s no such thing as a stupid question”

Enjoy the build.
