Your welcome, it was an enjoyable day out. It's a shame that the Speed Series doesn't come here any more!

Dave

Unfortunately, the noise limits are rather restricted at Castle Combe. I only visited the circuit twice, and on both visits I had problems with the noise test.

Is that the reason the Speed Series stopped going there then?

One of them but the main reason was due to the lack of people entering which made us a less attractive series to invite by the organisers compared to others. It was traditionally held in March and was for one day too which didn't help

When we rationalised our calendar a few years ago, there just weren't the numbers of our competitors going to make it sensible to keep on our calendar. You do have to be more selective for the overall benefit of the series.

Driver numbers attendance at specific venues is analysed ever year and popular venues stay in the calendar as long as the the organising clubs accept us and believe that quite a few Westfields will attend and support their sprits/hillclimbs. We also try to get a good spread all over the country.. The most popular and well attended events this year were Blyton, Anglesey, Harewood hillclimb, 3 Sisters and Loton Park hillclimb

The five most popular are all in the middle of the country so possibly that is where the majority of speed series competitors live. This year I competed at Blyton 230 miles  and Anglesey 325 miles and intend to do a few more next year but it would be nice to have something a little closer.
