DHL mystery.

I had a DHL parcel card pushed for my door. It says I was out so a parcel was left by my side gate. I am not expecting anything. No parcel by gate... Rang their help line but the lady I spoke with couldn’t match the numbers on my card with anything she has. I have put the card details on there online help and it says parcel was left in my porch. Tricky as I don’t have a porch. Also there is no way to confirm that this parcel number is tied to my address. Racking my brains over a possible scam here, but can’t see how?

are you absolutely sure the card is genuine, as there was known scam that did the rounds a few years back. where you get a card for something you never ordered, you then ring the number on the card and give them all your details, quite what they do with these i don't know, but if i were you if you think it isn't a genuine card would be to call action fraud

Thanks, but the card has no phone number. Just DHL normal card and a scribbled ‘left by gate’ and smiley face drawing. Very odd. Wondering whether there is a prank at play here? 🤔

not even a tracking number or reference number that you could input to their online tracker...

if not, it does sound like a wind up to me, cant see who is gaining from the card being left

Yes there is a Ref number. I put that into the DHL site and it says parcel delivered and left in porch, i don’t have a porch! What it won’t tell me is the address that the parcel was delivered to. Data protection I suppose. So no way of finding out what, where or even if there ever was a parcel.

was there a website address on the card, or did you simply google them and go from there,

all very odd to me, especially with this smily face thing you mention, never had anything like that before

Nope, no contact details at all. Vary odd I know.

just thought, many companies now take a pic on thier phone to prove to the company they actually did deliver the parcel, maybe you could ask for a copy of the pic if their online site says something was.

You have followed my line of thought. Trouble is, website is awful, customer phone line is worse. It’s rather a dead end! I’ve emailed them but won’t hold my breath. Thanks for the suggestions though.

i know, i had issues a few months back with dhl, the website is hard to navigate and i went round in circles for ages, i gave up and emailed them, but they never responded. in my case i did at least have a tracking number, so i could get the history of the parcel through its network. my missing parcel eventually arrived, but under a different racking number.

dhl are now one of the companies i would never use , together with a few more.

hope you get an answer to all this.

Thanks. As I said, not actually missing anything, just puzzled. Will report back if I find out.

Earlier this year we got a delivery from Hermes.. turned out to be a garden bench.. no paperwork with the box but it had our addressed on. We did not sign for it..

I was not home but when I got home the missus was really happy that I had bought her a present.. until I told her I hadn't..

Anyway phoned a few friends and no one had sent it.. we were worried bit was some sort of scam.. but no invoices no contact from anyone.. just a nice bench...

I wonder if someone else has a card sitting in their door saying they have a missed delivery!!
