TableLeg Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 2 of the main supermarkets are apparently to scrap the £1 card authorisation for Pay the the pump transactions instead moving to a £99 deposit. The bank will remove the £99 from your account until such time that the actual fuel cost transaction is completed. The difference is then removed from your account. Quote

Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I use Shell pay at the pump with Paypal and you have to choose a maximum spend or 'fill to brim' option. Apparently the same 'reserving' process takes place in that system too. The lesson has to be if you are near the limit already, fill up and go to the kiosk to pay. They evidently trust kiosk visitors more than they do pay at pump customers. Of course they might not quite see your point as you try to explain why your card has been rejected! Quote
