Mark Stanton
Have you got 4 point harness fixings What year is your chassis You may have 3 point fixings - which are adequate for your needs
Westfields Rock On
89/90 SE chassis. dunno what fixings i have
peterg
either way.....Willans are very nice - especially if you lash out and get the light alloy adjusters ...and it's easy enought to get four point fixings welded in if you only have 3 point at the moment
Westfields Rock On
got some 4 point harnesses from larkspeed @ 65 each. have 3 point fixings so i have the 2 chest straps onto one eye-bolt. saw a 3 point on same year westy yesterday and looked a mess with all that spare strapping. Mark Stanton
"pretty snazzy, eh?" In all honesty NO - it's An MSA scrutineer would fail it "saw a 3 point on same year westy yesterday and looked a mess with all that spare strapping" That means they were the wrong harnesses - Willans do both 3 and 4 point specific for a Westfield / Cateringvan, in loads of colours You should really do one of the following: 1. Exchange em for proper 3 point harnesses. 2. Have the lugs welded into the correct location to accept 4 point harnesses. JonnyBoy
i can see it now.....head on colission and seat belts turn into cheese wire. £65, Westfields prices are about that aren't they? (i think i paid 50 for one 4pt with show discount) I could only afford one though....but then i go a little easier when i have company. Excluding the mounting issue...they look great and your motor is looking really clean too! is there automotive love in the air

Fat Albert
Wrox, why don't you put both front wheels on the same side? An acquaintance of mine died 3 years ago because he didn't follow the parachute manufacturer's re-packing schedule , I saw his wife and kids to-day Please do it right and be
hilux
Wrox To summarise....... If you have one central fixing the use a proper three point harness ie: one central strap that splits over your shoulder onto two lap straps. If you have a four point it will have two shoulder strap mounting points and two lap straps. A three point properly fixed and adjusted is safe as is a four point, to utilise a three point with a four point harness is wrong and compromises your safety. For circa £50 get either a proper three point or utilise the fixings (if available) for a four point. Even the three/four points are problematic cos most people dont let the lap strap rest on their pelvic bones tightly an when the shoulder straps are tightened it sits on their stomach 5 or 6 point are ideal and marginally better than a well adjusted 3 or 4 point. Westfields Rock On
for a duggie, why is it less safe ? theres 2 strps going to 1 point and a 3 point harness has 2 straps into 1 starp into 1 point. so theres the same force/stress on the point, and im still stuck into the seat like glue
Mark Stanton
WROX - Please read this very carefully abd slowly, I hope you will understand it - cos as sure grass is green your insurance company will You are using 4 point harnesses on a three point set-up. Therefore you are not using either the harnesses or the car in the correct and proper manner as designed by the specialists. Do you want me to repeat it You may be snug as a bug, whilst have a drive through the country lanes - why not have a practise crash and see what happens - it seems to be the only way you'll listen to what folks have been tellin ya Yep - I sound somewhat sarcastic, apologies But when you ask for advice - its your fellow owners and club members that are considering your well-being and hope that you do things properly even if you have only got 75BHP its enough to have an accident with I'll get off me soapbox ..................... unless you ask again
