Roll Bar (RAC type??) for wide body Westy............SOLD!

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have this roll bar which I'm told is NOT a RAC version but a Westfield version which mimics one.

I'm asking £65.00 for the item.

The high level brake light is wired internally and works.

Rear braces are included.

If it was made by Westfield, then that is the bar known as the RAC roll bar. The "RAC" bit was always just a name/designation for the bar. There have been some small variations over the years, with welded rather than rose jointed stays, but they have remained known as the RAC bar. This has confused a few, assuming it indicated some kind of official RAC, (in the days before the MSA and latterly MSUK) seal of approval, or certification; as far as I know, this has NEVER been the case. It may have at some point, decades ago, loosely matched some blue book designation. But I don't believe it was ever homologated etc.

It is what it is, safety wise, - a massive improvement over the cosmetic Jap style and earlier bars. And great for road use or track days. And a bar that is, just about, compatible on traditional style body work, with full hoods. (Though some mods to the hood frame are required, without the old RAC bar fitting kit being available any more)

(If you need a competition/motorsport approved bar these days, from Westfield, then you have the choice of the MSA bar, or the full cage.)

Thank you Dave, it has now been sold but I was advised by another member that is was not a RAC bar and as such, I have absolutely no knowledge of what is what,

As you'd appreciate, I would need to be clear to exactly what it was I was selling which is why I tried to be clear but seemingly I have confused matters.

Very many thanks for your advice, it is appreciated and will mention your note here to the buyer.

Best Regards

Grahame
