They abandoned the car projects and moved into a more industrial market. Probably just one of those great ideas that the world wasn't ready for, and they weren't big enough to get the world to make the leap, by them selves.

Shame that didn't take off. There's such scope for a comeback to coach building with some of those electric vehicle beds.

there is a growing scene in america of people self build converting cars. I joined a few facebook groups which seemed to be a mix of home brew batteries, essentially robbing the systems from production cars, and companies who make batteries and motors. It also seems that, just like with engines, 3rd party companies are springing up to make controllers for OEM motors. 

 

Ill admit this is all based on idle browsing with no real purpose to get in-depth info so take with a pinch of salt but there is no smoke without fire as the saying goes

Theres quite a few conversion businesses popping up now Vintage Voltage on the telly box follows a business that converts classic cars to Electric, they did the prototype work for Westfields Chesil

Cost can vary quite a bit depending on the customer’s requirements for range and power, as well as the make and model of car. A small car with sub 100 mile range might cost as little as £20k for us to convert, whereas a large 4x4 with 200 mile range might cost as much as £60k.

 

I'm sure the work is excellent, to a high standard and they turn out really nice conversions, but I'll stick with fossil fuels whilst I await hydrogen power.

Wish I could convert cow **** to fossil fuel, it has a natural attraction to my car in the Welsh lanes.

There was a study a while back to do exactly this. Top Gear covered it in their usual style by comparing the perfomance of petrol (or it may have been diesel), cow do-do and (of all things) human do-do as well. If memory serves, it worked but the vehicle was down on power a little bit. No surprise there. My over-riding thought was what does the exhaust smell like? I know CO and CO2 is bad but it must be better than every town centre and associated car park smelling of cow farts...
