Not my thread, I’d have just thought It’d be even more useful in tech. If the OP agrees.

He has a thread there, that parts of this could be split off into.

Happy to shift this thread, although there appears to be a general consensus that the car will need rebuilt to recover its value.

I’ve asked the factory to advise option on a new chassis. But looks like 2022 before I’ll be able to get it back together.

The thing to do in these situations is to buy a lionel.

It’s what Russ calls his Mx5 track cars. 🤣

It can be called munter in other neighbourhoods...

Its a shame that your brother has just bought himself a wrecked car for market value 😆

Seriously, I would either take the hit that this year is a write off and get Siltech to repair it or look for another chassis or break it for parts.

Siltech might seem a far trek from you but there are specialist transporting compnaies who would get it there for you

In the meantime, if you must do track days, get and MX5 for not a lot of money

there's a place in Scotland not far from knockhill called SITECH, not to be confused with Siltech, hes running a westfield and is a pretty good prep business, ex F1 chassissis engineer, ask for Simon Smails say mark mentioned him

I’m just down the road in Dunfermline I’ll help you out any way I can, if you want to use my chassis for measurements etc.

simon at sitech might be able to help, he’s a really nice helpful guy. I’d suggest popping down and speaking to him in person.
Ideally you really need a jig to get it repaired spot on.

Thanks for all replies and offers, particularly re SITECH. Heard back from Westfield today, they no longer supply the same spec (live axle) of chassis so a replacement chassis will mean I can’t reuse my current rear end components, LSD diff etc. Plus they won’t sell me a chassis without me returning the old one, regardless that it is an unregistered track car!

There’s an ‘88 new chassis and body parts for sale on the site .. live rear axle set up I believe ... would be a good start if you didn’t want to repair what you have?

good luck

Thanks I’ve seen it, but I think it’s a narrow chassis. But that said I have just assumed I can’t use it to replace my wide chassis like for like? Are narrow and wide interchangeable?

No, not really. Depends how many parts you want to change or modify.

Thanks, I didn’t think so. The factory have quoted £3k for a new chassis, but insist on me sending them the old one, despite it being an unregistered track car. I need to ask if I can chop it up to make it easier and cheaper to send back.
