Richard (OldStager)
i saw that vid the other month and not sure how i feel about the car. part of me thinks wow, a new mk2, and the other thinks well it isnt a real one just a recreation - you could apply that thinking to our cars and the lotus i suppose and therefore i am still unsure what to think of that vid. goes well though and sounds great. i could sell the house i suppose how easy is it to live in a car...😂

Richard (OldStager)
oh dont get me wrong, the car is great, but with a new reg plate on it , it just seems odd to me. i cant remember how much it was but it was a lot, i realise its a hand made car so that has to be paid for - i wonder how many they will sell, and would they be eligible for rallying - historic wise. GaryD1971
The video quoted £64,000 for the entry level car! 😳 As @OldStager has asked, could you live in it? The Mrs wasn't too keen on being sold and the kids would get sent back within a week, so the only option left is to sell the house... Blatman
64k is a lot for what is essentially a meander down Memory Lane. To me it's an expensive piece of reproduction art. It has the look of the real thing but it's not. And at 64k there are dozens of cars that would outperform this in every concievable way EXCEPT that they don't look like a Mk2 Escort. My current personal faves are the M2 and M240i. 64K gets you TWO low mileage M2's or THREE low mileage M240i's. Or a pair of low mileage M3's or M4's. Or if we were to go really mad, Corvettes new C8. I know where my money would go, and it would not be down Memory Lane. I'll buy a poster... corsechris
It’s nicely done, but like so many things like this, aimed at folk for whom £100k is pocket change. I don’t think the typical Westfield owner fits that demographic.
cast iron
built to compete in historic rallying and the likes, if in fact they can be homologated
Captain Colonial
There’s a one owner two door Mk2 1300 Escort in maroon near me, completely original and unmolested, used daily in good weather. He’s had so many people leave notes on the windscreen asking to buy it that he’s filled a shoebox with them that he keeps in the boot.
