Steven (WE51STE) Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Hi There, I have now made my purchase of my westfield SEi Starter Kit Thanks for your advice on my previous post I decided against the Green / Yellow and gone for Crimson with lots of chrome. I have also managed to purchase a private reg WE51 STE With black bolts either side of the 1 to make a T it give WESTSTE - with my name also being Steve I think its a good reg to have. However. this means i am going to have to build it with all new parts. I am looking for a new : 2.0L Zetc Gear Box Limited Slip Diff I doubt any one is going to buy them for me but can anyone suggest what I should expect to pay and the best place to get them from ( PS Based in the midlands) Thanks in advance Steve Quote
Paul M Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Should all be available from the factory. I also understand that YKC (north Yorks) had some new Zetecs Quote
Bananaman Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Steve If your going for brand new parts why not go for a Duratec(£2000?) mated to a Quaife or BGH type 9 box(£800-1000) with a 2nd hand LSD Ford viscous jobbie (3.62 Ratio £100, 3,92 Ratio £150) I belive that you would be allowed one 2nd hand bit in your drivetrain Either that or get new LSD (£500ish) from Road & Race transmissons(do a search ) & 2nd hand engine from scrappie Zetec (£200-£500) Duratec (£750-?) Andy Reson for Quaife/BGH Type 9 is you'll get better ratios suited to Westfield setup (normal MT75 will have a really short 1st gear & then the others will be a little far apart, especially if you intend doing much competition/track work.) pete g Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 if you want new try the ford power product dealers .usually get excellent prices on engines and gearboxs .plus very helpful westfield used to get there engines from them. Quote
Steven (WE51STE) Posted February 6, 2004 Author Posted February 6, 2004 Hi, Popped into my local Ford Garage this afternoon and got the following quotes : New Duratec 2.0L #2523 + #300 no exchange surcharge New Zetec 2.0L #1628 + #225 no exchange surcharge MT75 Gearbox #556 + #120 no exchange surcharge should be abe to get 15% off these prices Does anyone know if these are good prices or can you suggest any better places. Thanks for you help Steve Quote
Tony B Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 Have you Tried Raceline for the Duratec, also remember its not just the lump youve got to source its all the ancils too. does the one you quoted come with the loom and ECU? Quote
Steven (WE51STE) Posted February 6, 2004 Author Posted February 6, 2004 No its just prices for the lump. What would the costs for all the ancilerices be ? Westfield charge : 5K for 1800 module 3 zetec 6.7K for 2000 module 3 duratec I'm hoping to reduce these prices Quote
Westfieldman Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 New Duratec engine can be had for £1300.00 Ammo £1365.00 Dolton power products £1500.00 SBD Duratec bits Fly wheel £175.00 SBD Bellhousing £275.00 SBD 7 1/2" clutch ? ? Starter motor £175.00 Ford CRB about £150.00 Ford Exhaust and induction is about the same for any 4 pot engine in a Westfield IMHO sell the plate and buy a load of bits second hand and save a s**t load of money and at that awkward time of year [MOT time] its pre 75 Vis smoke only. S8ight Posted February 6, 2004 Posted February 6, 2004 you can use one re-manufactured major part, ie engine. there you go, thats just saved you a grand (now can we talk about my consultancy fee ) Quote
pete g Posted February 7, 2004 Posted February 7, 2004 find out where your nearest power product dealer is .thats not your normal ford garage . you will get every thing with there engines. i got my type 9 gearbox from perrys at potters bar [not there any more] for £400 plus vat that included bell housing clutch plate flywheel nuts and bolts, gearlever release arm in fact everything was included.price from normal ford garage over £1000 just for gearbox. this was in 1992 but they are still about. will dig out old phone numbers if you want them. but some may not still be there . regards pete.
