TableLeg Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I have seen the 'net' type storage pockets used on some cars. Can anybody please tell me where the purchased them and how they fixed them? I'm thinking of one or two on the passenger side panels and one between the seats on the back panel. I've realised that these would be useful for all sorts of small items that I may be carrying that would be more comfortable out of my pockets! Thanks in advance. Quote
Stuart Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I have one of these from Soft Bits. It's rather nice and very useful - but not cheap. https://www.softbitsshop.co.uk/westfield-touring-tunnel-bag-rhd-or-lhd-565-p.asp 1 Quote

Hoping that if users have them which type is better and how they fixed them. I see the 'net type only' have 4 fixings that are added to each corner. I'm not sure I like the idea of that. Quote
corsechris Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 We've got some storage nets on the Merc that came as standard - just 4 hooks, one each corner, but they seem to work OK for small items. I could do with some storage in my Midlana too, only place that would take a storage net would be the tunnel sides, and that's only about 6" tall at the point it can be accessed...and by then, it's blooming' awkward to get to anyway. Suppose I could always attach some sort of bag to one of the chassis tubes. I had intended making a glovebox for it...but the area behind the dash is totally stuffed full of electrical gubbins, wiper mechanism, heater unit, wires..... No wonder it was so heavy, it's almost a solid lump. 1 Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Camper van/caravan fittings suppliers are great for things like this, many sell via eBay, too, there are a few size variations from the typical door pocket size, to some tiny mobile phone/wallet sized versions, along with the bigger elasticated net types. Most of the door pocket types are variations on a plastic three sided frame, with a metal strengthener inside, the ones hovering around the 20/30 cm wide type, usually have five screw holes, for attaching them, two on each side, top and bottom, and one in the centre of the bottom strip. - I prefer this type for the tunnel and side panels, as nothing slips out the bottom if you overload them a bit. The only thing I'm not so keen on with these generic designs, (I've got at least two on each Westfield), is that "size" of the string mesh, it's a very large open netting, which does catch things a bit when putting solid items with corners in the pockets. (Cloths and screen wipes are fine). I've not seen any details yet, but I notice Soft Bits are starting to advertise a new mesh pocket product. Certainly the mesh pockets on their tunnel bags are much closer to what I'd prefer, although they may not have the nice plastic frames. 1 Quote

Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 Make sure you can reach them (with your harness fastened) before deciding on location. I've got three. One on the rear bulkhead between the seats (can't reach it from the seat). one in the passenger footwell. Can't reach from the driver's seat and one in the driver's footwell, I can just about reach! 1 Quote

It's over 5 years ago, hence Chinese E-bay records long gone.... They are circa A4 size. /Car-Back-Seat-Organizer-Pocket-Storage-Cargo-Magic-Mesh-Net-Pouch-Universal The velcro adhesive isn't usually as good as the genuine velco stuff. Hence I used my own to stick to the car (I've not got carpet fitted) and attached the opposite part (which is stitched to the net). 1 Quote
