Mighty Mart
Just thinking that in the last 12 months, there was huge criticism of the UK Govt regarding Covid management, restrictions and Vaccines...... Comparisons being made to other countries etc etc...... I reckon we look pretty good compared to the rest of Europe and feel it's something we can all be proud of.....and another UK vaccine now that is 100% designed and made in the UK on the scene. I guess celebrating our successes is a lot harder than just criticising? I voted remain by the way too, but gradually thinking the leavers got it right! Mart. Man On The Clapham Omnibus
I'm off to get my second dose in a couple of hours. I only hope they've got the Astra-Zeneca one like the first one.

Wouldn't have made any difference if we were still in. We acted independently to procure vaccines whilst still in the EU. Any of the EU countries could have done the same. In fact if we were still in, the EU couldn't play the silly childish games in preventing shipments to the UK and we'd arguably have even more vaccinated. Agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment of your post though. They've done very very well with the rollout. These days we only tend to hear of criticism rather than praise. Needs to work both ways.
Blatman
Quote The full details of the company's deals with the UK and the EU have not been made public. But analysis by the Politico website points to a clause in the UK's contract which says the government "may terminate the deal and invoke what appear to be punishment clauses" if there is a delay in supply. According to Politico, the EU waived its right to sue the company in the event of delivery delays. The European Commission says it is now involved in a "dispute mechanism" with the company. Arm
Had the uk not left the eu it may have chosen to follow the common strategy. However it wasn't legally binding but may have been problematic to not follow the eu. More or less problematic we won't now know.

After my first dose I had symptoms of a chill with aching limbs, a mild headache and slight fever. However it was not bad enough for me to reach for the medicine cabinet. Symptoms lasted less than 24 hours and for 13 of those I was asleep... https://www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/astrazeneca/side-effects.html

DamperMan
It would be interesting and clearly not possible to say, maybe your Vaccine reaction is a measure of how you would of handled a dose of the real deal. My Wife suffers man flue worse than any man alive and the Jab put her in bed for best part of 2 days... Since she also has full on Covid fear, I'm convinced that if she did get Covid the nocebo (opposite to placebo) effect alone would make things a whole load worse. Man On The Clapham Omnibus
After my second dose on Tuesday I had a slight fever (37.7ºC) but no other symptoms. This evening my temperature is c.37.1ºC which is slightly above my norm of c.36.6ºC Mind you I was bashed on the head by a car park barrier this afternoon which didn't improve my mood at all! Thought they had safety interlocks. That calls for a beer... 🍺
