I enjoyed it!

I've got simple tastes and take it for what it is. CHM got a bit too slapstick in the end and took the focus away from the cars, in my opinion.

I wonder if this is why Paddy was brought in, for the comedic aspect ....

could've chosen someone funny then.

for me its the way he plays on the loud northerner vibe just by saying stuff very loudly that accentuates the accent for the sake of it. its just not needed and you can tell how its throttled after it got slated in the first season. couple that with the blatant setting him up to be the new Clarkson can be a bit staid rather than letting the group come of age naturally.

I guess as has already bee said at least its something daft and car than something that isn't

Cheer up lads, I’ve got good news - next season they’ve dropped Paddy and signed me up for two seasons! 👍

The early season CHM ones were fine, but they allowed JC to run away with it as time went on.  Casual and frequent “comic” racism, faked challenges, contrived slapstick and the terrible later foreign trips (the Indian one in particular, horrific in every way, like a It Ain’t Half Hot Mum with cars; and don’t tell me the FKL 982 number plate on the Porsche in Argentina was a coincidence) slowly ruined later series for me.

TGT is just flat awful and shows CHM are past their sell-by dates as a trio.  JC in particular now looks like a Cotswold-based Worzel Gummidge.

Given the choice, I watch the current TG, but each to their own.

Given the choice, I leave the TV off. 🙂

I switched on the telly to watch Bloodlands last night, and caught the last minute or two of TG. What has Freddie Flintoft done to himself!! He looked a bit foppish.. am I allowed to say that?

It wasn’t so much “they” as in the BBC, production team, crew etc, they could never really control him, before or after. The problem was leading up to and around the time of the India trip, was when his wife, the only one that could reign him back and steer him, finally got fed up of him, and his extra curricular activities and left; it was like the damming rods coming out of a reactor, he just built up and built up steam and it showed, as did his lack of judgement in the directions he followed.

So, So, So funny though.

When he was in a jam in Spain, and says "why am i in a jam".

Nobody does anything in spain,"get up throw a donkey off a tower, then go back to bed"

The man was a genius.

Don't get me wrong I've watched from the beginning and even onto the grand tour and I've mostly enjoyed them. However watching the old ones on Dave does highlight Scotts point, some of the things JC said and did are far more cringe worthy now, when at the time of original broadcast he got away with it (mostly). His archaic attitudes to some of his female guests stands out too, I saw the rerun of the Amy Williams episode last week and it was embarrassing to watch.  However TG isn't alone in that I guess with changing times and attitudes of whats acceptable or not.

I wouldn't go that far. He did a very very good job until he pushed it too far.

I actually think he does a really good job on who wants to be a millionaire however.

Point of order... control rods in a reactor.

And if they're russian reactors, they're graphite tipped which is a very bad idea.

I didn't find the episode too bad. apart from the turn up at a kart track for a time trial.  but Ho Ho lets put them on each others lap. that was just cringe fest.

I am just glad they didn't mess around with the rally car bit.
