Top gear is dead in my eyes.

You'll have to watch your betamax collection of songs of praise instead. I'm just happy to see cars on TV

Tried to watch them a few times bu there is no chemistry, it's all badly contrived and it feels like the script came from the legal dept.

Yes I know CHM TG was contrived but they had that certain something, be it comic timing or genuine chemistry or whatever, and it was a joy to watch, most of the time. The current three are nowhere near.

I wonder if this is why Paddy was brought in, for the comedic aspect - the issue there is you need a partner to work off, for that to work. Chris H I hugely respect as a driver, but his comedy ( where it happens ) is a bit dry, and quite why Freddie is there I have no clue.

I think the current line up is ok, slthough i detest Paddy.

The CHM era is decent enough for nostslgia but it's really aimed at pre-pubescent boys.

Onwards and upwards eh ?...

At my age, being called pre-pubescent is definitely a compliment.

Onwards and upwards? Not with these three. It's down and away to TV obscurity in the next two to three series.

One of the things that irks me on the road trips is that CHM seemed to want (and enjoyed, more or less) getting their hands dirty and (with the help of crew of course) bodged their way across many countries and continents and had time to drink in the scenery, laud the places and people they met, argued with each other a lot but in the final anlysis it was a(nother) "boys own" story. I don't see much of that, espcially the breakdowns, in the current progs. And even the star in the reasonably priced car, which was usually when I put the kettle on unless the guest was very good, is even worse now, It's almost cringe-making.
