Richard (OldStager) Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Yes, just caught this on the news, was THE only voice in motorsport for me. When he stopped commentating on F1 , I stopped watching. Still don't follow it. Huge loss for motorsport. RIP. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 How sad, such fond memories of his commentaries and narration on motorsport programs; he defined motorsport watching for me, from being 8 or 9 onwards. Quote

I carried on for some years, but it was never the same. So many of my favourite moments of motorsport TV, are the dream team, Hunt and Walker; united in a commentary box somewhere out there once again! 2 Quote

MR.C Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 To be honest he was crap. A legend for that reason alone. 97 that's a good number, Godspeed Murry my man. Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 His boyish enthusiasm was infectious and more than made up for the odd mistakes he made. He WAS F1 for me and a delight to listen to. Thanks Murray 😊❤️🏁 Quote
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Sad loss of a true legend. Quote
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 The voice of motorsport for such a long time! Loved his enthusiasm and loved his mistakes just as much, what a character! The footage of him prodding the huge bruise on Mansell's head will live on forever 😂 Rest in peace Muddly Talker.... 1 1 Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 And that's what great chaps like Murray create - memories Can't ask for more really. 1 Quote
Glen_I Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Yep, as well as Rally Cross for me (I'm more a Rally Cross fan than F1, albeit in the 80's). It's sad when anyone passes away but when it's someone that we can all relate too it seems to hit harder, these people are part of our interests and passion as we grow up and we assume they will live forever, this highlights the fact that we are not here forever. RIP Murray Quote
Richard (OldStager) Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 I think we should celebrate his life with posting some of his best mistakes and funny commentary. Since I posted that, I have watching more of his stuff A good film with him here, explaining his mistakes, his life and more 7 Quote
wizzer Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 I used to play f1 on the play station back in 95 ish with Murray commentating with all the classic lines, when you hit the barriers he'd say he must have hit the barrier there ,class. 1 Quote
