Insurance is due. Currently with AF, paid £146 last year but they want £156 this time. A-Plan couldn't match them last year, so can't see them doing so this year.

Thought I'd try this 2Gether (never heard of them) - I've just hung up after 30 mins on hold!

didnt we have a new insurance company as a sponsor join recently...sorry but i cant recall their name.

back in 2014 i was with 2gether, you only know what one is like when you make a claim, following beiong t boned they sorted me out reasonably quickly and organised for my car to be shipped back to the factory and back, would use again if they could compete with a plan ... sorry i cant do capital letters at the moment which makes some posts a bit odd, lol...

AIB (Airsports Insurance Bureau I believe!) it’s who I’m with.

Well, A-Plan came to the party - £136 including agreed value (AF charge £15 for that).

Blimey that is cheap!

Yeah I think A-Plan are on a bit of mission to get kits back on the road post lockdown to be honest.

My laid up insurance renewal was going to be £95, or I could get it back on a full road policy for £131 (so I did that to put pressure on myself to get it finished). Can't really complain at £2.50 per week.

Just been quoted £214 by A plan (duratec Westfield)

After reading all the quotes I'll be going back for a re-quote.

Was that from the Thatcham branch?

My £136 quote is on a pre-2000 for <£10k - a new-ish Duratec worth a lot more will garner a higher quote, as well as location etc.

it was the Thatcham Branch. But, does include Breakdown, legal and stated the car was worth 16K.

That’s a good price with the breakdown etc in it.  On my last renewal, breakdown was £45 and legal £16

So if yours is similar, the base price is £153

this reminded me to ask the collective, which is the more cost effective getting break down cover via your insurance or use an independent one...

with restrictions hopefully fully lifted by the end of june, i thought this a good time as that is when my insurance is due.

Base price is £114

Plus admin fee and VAT (Of course)

Breakdown is £44 all in. Not sure if it covers Europe.

Couple of times I've broken down I received an excellent service (local providers)

yes that was a good price then, think i may well ask for a quote this time around, as i doubt an independent one would be much cheaper. thank you.
