Worst case could be replaced and re-mapped for around 1-1.5K, so if it was fuel injected would be easily worth that, I'd think Quote

Did you get your asking price when you sold it. If you did I would say 1500 less just in case you need a new engine Quote

BenD Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 they can only say no. im terrible with negotiations lol but it sounds like a fair offer to me Quote
Glen_I Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I am the same as you @BenD, always feel like I am insulting the person, so if the car is in tip top condition I will pay very near asking price. However this is different, and like you say they can only say no....the other option is they say no and then have to deal with all the time wasters which will turn up and kick the tyres and offer even less no doubt! Kit Car Electronics Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 It does sound very unlikely that the engine could have frozen though - we've only had a handful of ground frosts in the East this year that even the tiniest amount of antifreeze would protect against! Quote
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 He's got no prices to compare to, given the current condition. I'd suggest £6K. You know the car, others won't, so I doubt anyone else is likely to offer him more etc. 1 Quote
Andrew O Byrne White - Ireland AO Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 You mentioned it had a tank of diesel? That could have done an awful lot of damage there if it was cranked after. I'd definitely be going in with a low offer to begin with considering that and factoring in that the two cylinder running could be injector damage there. Quote
DamperMan Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I’d lay it down as you have to us. .. you sold it for xxxx.. it’s going to cost xxx to Collect as it’s non running. And you are allowing £1500 to get it back to the condition it was when you sold it. It’s not an insult if you are justified. If he says No chance and throws back a figure £1k more you can use your man maths to self justify more. 3 Quote
Glen_I Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 And if he starts with 'it wont cost that much to put it right' then why hasn't he done so already?? 1 Quote
