An update on my old car.

My Westfield that I (wrongly) sold last year has now changed hands again, and I must say, I can’t stop thinking of my regret at letting it go so easily. I thought it was for the right reasons at the time, Anna tried to talk me out of it, but I pushed ahead and let it go. I have swapped messages with the new owner, as the day he did the swap with Angliawestie, it was running on 2 cylinders! He seems to have plans for it, but seeing another pic of it on the back of his truck just compounds what an idiot I have been. Let this be. Warning to anyone who is thinking that they should get rid, just because it’s sitting not being used, think again 😂

Agreed, had many cars I regret letting go. I decided that with the Westy that wasn't going to happen, despite some years where 200 miles has been the max and it just sat there. I'm on year 13 so far...

On the bright side, you have a munter.

Such a shame Andy, but you're right, I've seen and heard it happen to members again, and again.

Or should that be every silver lining has a cloud 😅 A matt black cloud!

Edit: Seriously though, nothing lasts forever, and I do think this last 10 months or so has made us all feel a bit weird. Hang on in there for circuits to open again!

Have been there, I sold the Westfield I built and tried a Lotus Elise years back, just wasn’t for me.

Took a while to find another Westfield (Duratec) which I swapped for a mega S2000. No plans of selling again !
So think of a realistic spec you can afford and keep a look out, you will find another you can make yours!

I had so many friends and family members who kept questioning why I still have my Westfield sat in the garage despite it not turning a wheel for 15 yrs but with other more important priorities it just sat there gathering dust, a few times I did think it's a waste and may as well sell it but I had a niggling idea I would never be able to justify blowing a load of cash on what is a toy, especially with children on the scene now...............so 15 yrs on from when it was last used we are on track to have it back on the road how I always wanted it......

Now in the current climate that no one ever predicted there is not a hope in hell I could ever go and buy one now, Wife has just been made redundant and I am dodging it (twice since last March), but it will catch up with me probably this year.............

Basically I am glad I didn't listen to anyone 😂

I messaged the new owner today seen as the car was on my mind this morning, to see if he’s managed to sort the missing 2 cylinder problem out. He’s not touched it, too many projects and toys. I think he may be tempted to let it go as he asked me what I thought it was worth in its current condition. Now I have a ski mask, gloves and a quick getaway car, but I’m not sure how much the post office would need for it to become mine again 🤣

the TT could be sold off, the munter could be put up for adoption again, and I’d need to scrape some £’s together but what would you say was it’s value.

2001 SEIW, but since I’ve owned it, it’s had a tank of diesel, the starter took a wobble and set fire to the lithium battery! (Repaired I believe) but now it’s running on 2 cylinders.

Depends what you sold it for. If the engine is toast and what the new owner paid.

It was a nice looking car from what I remember removing the exhaust can at croft last March. I would have a serious conversation with the new owner. See what he needs from the deal to walk away and then do the man maths

Probably then throw all sense out the window pay over the odds and get your baby back.

The 2 cylinder running could be as simple as a dodgy coil connector and dampness or might be more serious. The car does have a nice new FreeWheel fitted, so it can't be all bad 🙂

I always planned to fit one of your blink stops but never got round to it! Now if it could magically grow a cage................😂

He swapped a Porsche and some cash I believe.

I sold my first car and I went a year without a westy. But I realised my 1st car wasn't everything I wanted. The car I have now is pretty much what I wanted. But he may want to move it on if its not running correctly.
