Ian Podmore Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 One of the girls in the office has just left me a message 'I've just got in and it's 2:30 in the morning'. She left the office at 16:45 and only got about 5 miles to travel across centre of Birmingham on the Bus! And I thought my warm journey in the car was bad drving behind people doing 10mph on straight level roads that weren't that bad. One queque was because the was a bloke doing 5mph on his Goldwing.... Not one of the main roads was gritted either, and some were total skating rinks. Even the anti-lock brakes didn't know what to do Quote
Bananaman Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 About 5 seconds No snow on the stairs from my bed room to my office. Might have to go out today to empty the bin. Quote

david.c Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 About 5 seconds No snow on the stairs from my bed room to my office. Same here Nana. It's a hard life Took my brother 2 1/2 hours to do a 15 minute journey Wednesday evening. David Quote
Blatman Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Normally takes me 20-25 minutes, last night it took me 20-25 minutes. Golden rule. When it starts to snow, *everyone* panics, and heads for home, mostly because they think they have a "good excuse" for knocking off early............. Sit back, get a coffee, maybe some dinner. Wait a couple of hours for all the lemmings to clear the snow, then drive home normally. Piece of cake...... Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 'I've just got in and it's 2:30 in the morning'. She left the office at 16:45 and only got about 5 miles to travel across centre of Birmingham on the Bus! She could have walked in far less Did Brannigans have a late bar Took me just over 2 and a half hours from Canwell to home usually a 30/40 min journey Best bit was overtaking the muppets in 4x4 soft roaders and a Subaru Impreza I then got held up on all the single carriage roads Quote
jeff oakley Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Normal journey 1.5hrs Southampton to Bristol Last night 8 hours. Sat for 5 hrs on A34 waiting for the halfwitted lorry drivers to admit they were never going to make it up the hills. In all the time I was travelling saw one gritter, sat in the same que as me not gritting. Best excuse from Highways agency was that because it rained it washed all the salt away them as it snowed straight after and we all got stuck they couldn't get the gritters out. Simple solution I thought PUT MORE SALT DOWN DIMWITS Journey to Southampton this morning was just as frustrating because they had only gritted one lane on the M4 making lane one & two passable but lane three impossible for the thick nunney who ran into the central reservation because he ignored the signs Luckily the French Swiss and others who have real snow aren't British otherwise they would starve.
