My son bought me an Amazon Echo Auto for Xmas. I am not sure what to make of it so just wondering if anyone has one and if it’s worth fitting?

 

I’m not a fan of iPod or streaming music, playlists and all that. Just tend to listen to radio. I really don’t want another monthly subscription!

I hope the damn thing doesn’t respond to vaguely Alexa sounding words anywhere nearly as much as the home based units do!

Can't you use it to control your iphone by voice to make calls etc? You know which tool, I'll recommend to install it with, don't you 😉

Surely Siri does that already? I know Google Assistant can do this on an Android phone...

The home based ones are good fun as long as they belong to someone you know.  One of my longtime friends rang me a few months ago, cursing me soundly, because when I was in his house a year ago and he stepped out of the room, I asked Alexa to remind him on his birthday that he was a miserable fat ugly old git, which she duly did. 😛

😂 this ^^^^ has stopped me even thinking of letting it near my car. My wonderful teenage kids will have great fun at my expense. Our youngest has an iPhone which clearly states ‘I’m dieing’ when the battery hits 10%. He would have a field day. 
 

My bmw 420 works well with voice recognition for making phone calls, can use Siri if it fails.

 

So this device is great for streaming, if that floats your boat. Not much use to me, but don’t tell my eldest son!
