Somerset Jim
Hi All, No Westfield yet, but am looking at one in Yeovil (the Ebay one up at £9.995 - 1700 XFlow). We've agreed it's not worth that and negotiations on how much I might have to add to my TT to make the deal work are ongoing. However, it's not a monogamous relationship so looking elsewhere in parallel (nice yellow one in Hamble advertised on Gumtree). Anyone know anything about M23LOE? It has only had the one owner in the last 18 years (Weymouth area) which I like, but no history as it was a px at a main Vauxhall garage so who knows where all the paperwork has gone - which I don't like. Anyway no great rush as it will only sit on axle stands in the garage being polished and tidied up for next few months. If anyone aware of any more for sale local (well fairly) to me then please let me know (cars for sale forum looking a bit empty here). Obviously no photo yet so here's one of my last kit car from 1985. Can I call Westies kit cars or is that a forum faux pas? Jim
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
@Somerset Jim, good luck in your search. We're not as 'stuck up' as most Cateringvan owners, and happily refer to ours as kit cars. Lots of us on here either built are own car or like tinkering with them! If you post the link to the one on E-bay, we can take a look and advise etc.
Somerset Jim
As requested - thanks for reply. Not much info in the advert though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1994-Westfield-1700/373083013044?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

TAFKARM
They are both quite different cars, what do you anticipate using the car for?
Somerset Jim
Mostly sunny weekends on the road and the pleasure of driving without tons of electronics and sound-proofing getting in the way. Nil intent for competition, track days etc
Sean Walsh
Hi Jim, Welcome and good luck with the quest! I'm also in Somerset, in Minehead. There are a few folks around the area. One has a car up for sale at the mo - but I may have taken a provisional deposit? Sure you won't have to wait long for something to to come up. Good luck W
Morris
4 hours ago, Somerset Jim said: Obviously no photo yet so here's one of my last kit car from 1985. Is that a Series 2 Dutton Phaeton? I also had one but with black bodywork. It came to a sticky end but was fun whilst I had it 😀.

Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO
Welcome to prospective Westie ownership. I also live in Somerset, on the levels east of Bridgwater. Best of luck with your search, sure the right one will come up.
Gary Taylor
Welcome from a cold and soggy Scotland. Good luck with your searching
Somerset Jim
Thanks for all the relies and welcomes. Yep it is a Dutton Phaeton, slightly dubious build quality but I bought it for £1495 and sold it 2 years later for £1600 - with much sideways fun in-between. Very cheap to run as in the 80s there were scrapyards every 2 miles and they were all full of Xflow / 2000E / Escort / Herald bits and pieces to keep her going. I'm just outside South Petherton (will make sense to locals) currently making do with a Lexus Soarer, a Mk 1 Audi TT convertible, a Series 2a Landy and an ever expanding motorcycle museum of old Triumphs. Hopefully soon replace the 225bhp, heated seats, 4 WD and comfort of the TT with a much lighter, much older, less powerful, much colder, much more uncomfortable and much more expensive Westfield. Not sure that last sentence makes me sound rational. Negotiations and searching continue.....
Alan Cutler (Adge) - Dorset AO
@Somerset Jim Don’t know your budget, this one has just appeared for sale on here. Lives in the Tavistock area so not miles away. Saw this car in the flesh, last year, very tidy. South Petherton(ish), You’re not far from me then, bit further above sea level though! Somerset Jim
Thanks - have just seen that one. A little more than I was hoping to pay but then a little higher spec than I was planning on buying. First thoughts on the car were to go fairly basic - not much to go wrong / can't do myself on a Dell Orto fed 1700 Xflow. Fuel injection and ECUs a little outside my comfort zone at present. I'll get in touch and have a think - and I get to drive the Okehampton to Tavistock road :-).
Hemsley
Hi Jim, hope you find what you’re looking for, as you probably know from your Dutton the variety of Westfield configurations is endless. Choice of colour is usually the hot debate. I’m West if you in the Blackdown Hills so let me know if you’re over this way for a drive.
