You could put pretty much any egocentric leader in that cartoon and it still wouldn't be any good.

But change the dart board for The Donald and we'd be getting somewhere...

"A "world-beating" track and trace system to stop a second coronavirus peak and help ease the lockdown has been promised by the end of May by Boris Johnson".

I don't know of any other world leader who has made the 'world leading' claim to fit into the cartoon.

Less rhetoric and more effective action from Boris please and hoping his new No.10 team can help bring it about.

Off at a slight tangent, does anyone think the government has given up on track and trace?  Downloads appear to have stuck at around 19 million, about a third of the adult population,  'contacts reached ' is stuck at about 60% , and when contacted only 1 in 5 actually isolate.

So track and trace leads to about 4% of the contacts of people that test positive isolating.

Add into the mix that the basic premise of the app is VERY crude, being within 2 metres of someone for 15 minutes, it must a)  miss a huge number of close contacts , and b) notify a lot of unaffected people, it is just a huge guess isn't it?

Remember that in data we discussed earlier, 60% of people report that they think they got it in their own home, and 13% in a home visit, so most people will know they have been in contact with a positive, without the app.

My calc. is 40% (contacts not reached) times 20% (self-isolating properly) equals 8% of contacts of people that test positive isolating properly (not 4%) and a shockingly low number so no wonder the virus spreads.

The NHS app. was eventually delivered  on 24 sep 2020 and is part of the system.

Data passed to NHS (Serco) test and trace to follow up and trace contacts is from positive tests at Gov. test sites.
