Man On The Clapham Omnibus
Blimey! I read it as 'nose cameras'... 😄
Kingster
It says legal limit is 74db? Crickey can’t think of many of us below 90db at best! So IVA allows a higher measurement than the law? Edit: 74db is for type approved cars. We are outside that one, but good luck arguing with a NIP...
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO
If there's two cars passing in opposite directions, how can they be certain which one has created the noise? Nick Freeman, will have a great time defending these! Though as most of the offenders from the middle east pay £20,000 to ship their toys into London, they are quite happy to pay parking fines, so will be equally happy to pay these, if there is even away to reach them out of the UK! Another waste of government money if you ask me! The courts have enough challenges of speed camera where smart defences have proved some of the devices can show the court room wall speeding if the gun isn't used correctly, so with sound reflections, amplification and background noise, I can't see these standing up! Andy_R
Personally I can't see this working. As @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO said the type of people making the nuisance noise don't care about the fines and will just incorporate it in the cost of bringing a car from their home country (just like they do with parking tickets, etc.). However my cousin lives and works in Kensington and has told me over the years that the noise is getting worse & worse so I can see why the police / authorities are trying to do something. She's told me that there are times when she's had to literally get the tube to coffee shops in other areas of London so she can take phone calls from clients so I can see why there was pressure from residents & businesses. Unfortunately what will happen is the innocent car owners like us will be effectively taxed just by having a slightly louder car. But having learnt to drive in London (albeit in the mid 90's) I wouldn't be seen dead driving there anymore. Unless you've got to drive for work or medical reasons why would you even consider it!

Blatman
I'm sure they will pay when the investigations are complete. Not sure what that has to do with how they spend their money on un-related road furniture...
DonPeffers
Plenty cash available you say and not disagreeing. Hoping they can get their priorities right.

I'm guessing the Housing dept and Roads dept have different priorities...
Man On The Clapham Omnibus
A few of these would be an effective deterrent - you'd need to stay at home though!
