jeff oakley
I was speaking with my next door neighbour ,who is a car dealer. He was telling me these boxes do suffer form contamination issues if they have been used a lot in towns and also if they have not had oil changes on the box, I think he said 30k or so and a lot get reset then shoved through the auctions to move the problem on. They are great when working, but temperamental to sensors etc From everything you have written, I would be getting out of it I would also be asking them what they intend to do for not MOTing the car and allowing you to unknowingly drive an illegal car. I would have thought paying for the two bar would be a good gesture and giving back all monies. Stay calm and not be deviated from what you want. They may hesitate when a local solicitor rings, but when someone from Which? calls and threatens to splash them over their pages, the tune changes. *heads off to Google to do a search*... In the grander scheme of things this is a very minor irritation. If caught (and he wasn't) it's a fine, no points and not having a valid M.O.T does not void the insurance if the worst happens. Simon Waterfall Syman84
Update...... The short version Spoken to sales manager. Said I had prepared a rejection letter, he said I might as well send it. So I think they knew it was going to be an expensive new box 32 minutes later rejection accepted. Just have to sort tow bar but he has offered to remove it as its my property. I will try and get some compensation but just happy that I won't have the worry. Thanks everyone. Car shopping again now
DamperMan
Or get them to watch this... all they need is some rocks and a soldering iron .. or maybe it’s what the last owner did . In my experience cars are either good or bad. Yours is bad. Bad cars are a constant headache even if they work fine as you have no faith...
