DonPeffers Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 (1) 24 sep 2020 https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/18745882.students-across-scotland-told-not-return-home-visit-families/ "Students across Scotland banned from returning home to visit families". "STUDENTS in Scotland have been ordered not to return home to visit their families as they are now a “separate household” and legally off-limits. National Clinical Director Professor Jason Leitch said the law on indoor meetings applied to “even mum and dad”. However meetings between two households of up to six people are still allowed outdoors and in pubs, and there are exceptions on home visits for carers". "Prof Leitch last night told BBC Reporting Scotland that students could go home for the weekend.--- (Wrong) He said: "They can but we would ask them to maybe think hard about that. It's not going to be illegal. Nobody's going to put barriers up." This morning, he also said they had discretion, but should "think very carefully" about home visits. But in an update on Twitter this lunchtime, Prof Leitch changed position and sought to "clarify" his mistake. He said: “Was asked last night whether students in halls and flats can go back to parents’ homes. To clarify, they are a separate household. “There are exceptions, eg caring responsibilities, but the law is clear: they can’t meet indoors with another household – even mum and dad. Sorry.” (2) On BBC news today Mary Senior of University & College Union stated students are in shared accommodation; sometimes 10 or 12 to the accommodation. This doesn't break the 'rule of six' as the new group of 12 strangers now count as one household. The students are now banned form visiting family as that is a different household and students travelling home to family for Christmas would be illegal if the current rule of six still applies then. (3)Then watch Matt Hancock trying to explain the 'ban on casual sex' to Kay Burley (good luck with that). https://www.thenational.scot/news/18745098.watch-matt-hancock-awkwardly-explains-pandemic-casual-sex-rules/ I hope the virus is keeping up with the rules as even Scotland's Clinical Director is clearly struggling. DonPeffers Posted September 29, 2020 Author Posted September 29, 2020 It is becoming ever clearer that the UK needs very clear covid Law (with updates clearly announced) as well as just ONE UK spokesperson who knows their brief backwards. Advisory rules and guidance for general safety (classified as good to do) need explaining as' just advisory', including updates. For instance, including bride and groom, max.15 at at wedding in England but 20 in Scotland and 30 in N.I. and Wales. It might be clear but leaves public confused as to how 'following the science' comes into play. For about two million people in Newcastle, Northumberland, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland and the County Durham council area new rules from this Wednesday state you cannot meet friends inside a pub or restaurant (will be illegal). Mixing with other households in pub gardens or outdoor restaurant spaces will NOT be illegal. Confusion today from PM Boris and Education Minister Gillian Keegan who did not know or didn't understand the changes. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54342688 "Boris Johnson 'misspoke' over North East Covid restrictions". Time for one spokesperson! P.S. If the 'red brigade' were providing the same level of competence I can confirm I would be trying to hold them accountable.😇 Quote
