Oh, the Lionel syndrome, just bought one myself, the scuttle shake express.   Amazing so many WSCC boys have one.

Not the sort of car for trackdays as they are heavy and good for loads of understeer.    It’ll cost a fortune to make a good trackcar out of it and rid the understeer.

On the other hand they are terrific road cars and grip in all weather conditions, you always feel safe in them.

I’ve now inherited the munter so the TT (that’s still not running right) won’t be heading to a track anytime soon. 😀

it’s proving a challenge, new callipers to replace the seized ones, various sensors to remove warning lights, new dipstick tube as it had disintegrated, bald tyres replaced, wheels refurbed, burnt out fuse box needle replacing to get the fans working. Coil packs swapped and now the Fuel pump getting changed this week as it’s still spluttering on hard acceleration.

Looks like you've inherited a bit of a 'project' but have it all in hand Andy! Though I have a feeling the TT will be destined for the road once you've tried the Munter round Croft 😀

Common problems on the TT then, I’ve heard them all and I have an A3 Quattro which is much the same.   Has it got the prop shaft still? You did look for It hope😀.  Changing  the rear diff oil, Haldex oil and filter, gear oil are a must do.  Check the two rubber donuts at either end of the prop are not cracked or very dry.  Hopefully the Haldex clutch still works and you can test by planting your foot Hard on the throttle on a wet road, you’ll feel the 4wd switch on and stop wheel spin within 1/2 a second.
The BAM engine is mostly reliable so service like any other cam belt motor.
I always wondered where the Munter went, thought it died.
