stew72 Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Narrowed it down to either Facet solid state (red top) or interuptor (silver top) with filterking pressure reg. Can anyone running a pinto advice which is best? I've noticed that f/r red tops are good for up to 150 bhp, I've got around 155, is this goind to be ok, or do I need comp spec pump? I'm guessing that silver top would be ok as pressures seem to be somewhere between the 2 red top pumps. Any advice, experiences greatly appreciated. I have searched, but haven't really been able to find the advice I need! Thanks. Quote
TonyFerrino Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Stew, I think there's a lot of confusion on the topic of Facet fuel pumps - 'red top' & 'silver top' refer to the interruptor type pumps which look like cylinders, whereas solid state pumps are the small cubic ones. I only have experience of the solid state pumps, of which there are 3 flavours to choose from - see here. They offer varying flow and pressure ratings. My Seven is probably in the 160 BHP range, so I opted for the highest flow/pressure rating pump, on the basis that I could curb the pressure reaching the carbs with a good quality regulator (I bought a filter king w/ pressure gauge). I don't know what the disadvantage of getting a higher flow pump is - perhaps they're noisier and wear out quicker? I think the competition solid state pump I bought is equivalent to the silver top interruptor pump in terms of rating. Don't really know what the difference is, other than price. I understand that reliability issues with interruptor pumps have been resolved now...... Quote
