DAVE O Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Can you put vinyl stickers on modern lids? I know it was said that it can weaken the structure of the helmet - is this still the case with modern helmets also will a lid with stickers pass scrutineering? (spell?) Dave O. Quote
Blatman Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Just for the scrutineering wibbles, I'd leave stickers off your lid. Stickers on a fibreglass, or glass/kevlar, or kevlar/carbon lid *should* be fine. After all, the RAC approved marshalls put a sticker on them, don't they...... It's polycarbonate lids that have a real issue with stickers, as the glue may degrade the shell material quite badly. Apart from that, I don't recall seeing anyone recently with a polycarbonate lid, and that can only be a good thing...... Quote
thos Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Some scrutineers may think you are trying to hide cracks/marks in the helmet by using stickers. I've a little Playboy bunny on the side of my rally helmet, the scrutineers sometimes have a little check of the surface to see if it's covering anything. But nothing has ever been said. Tom Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Can you put vinyl stickers on modern lids? bl**** ell Mr O - all that snazzy paintwork and styling on yer new skid lid and you wanna put a sticker on it Suppose it's yer name innit was thinking of doing something on my plain white one as well Quote
DAVE O Posted January 21, 2004 Author Posted January 21, 2004 Got it in one MR S Just wanted to put my name -one on each side. I've since read the label on then chin strap which says: Shell constucted offiber re-enforced thermoset resin. Apply only the following: waxes, polishes, non-abrasive cleaners, paint and adhesives to the shell. So it looks like stickers are OK - or do they fall under 'abrasive' Hmmmmm Dave O. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 I've started with www.wscc.co.uk across the top of my visors - and just gonna sort out name next Leave some room for your MSA sticker Quote
