Any way to get details of cat S/N cars?

Starting to peruse first cars for our daughter, with no sign of lessons restarting she's itching to get out and keep ticking over, she was only a couple of lessons away from booking her practical.

Any how we are looking at the usual Ka/107/C1/500 fodder at around £2k and naturally as they are first car favourites there are a lot of cat S and cat N cars and lots of sellers spouting the usual 'it was only a headlight'.

She'll be keeping it for at least 4 years as she's off to Uni later this year so it'll be pretty much worthless by the time shes done with it so am open to a Cat N car if it gets her into a newer car with less miles for the same money

So just wondered if there was any way to research the actual damage?

I don't know about finding the damage but if you start an ad on auto trader for that car it automatically tells you from the reg if it has history. Or at least it did.

Yeah still does ash. However as we are at the lower end of the market most are listed on Facebook market place, gumtree etc. Gumtree is supposed to pick up any markers but it seems easily bypassed as theres been a few that have said its not registered as a write-off then when you speak to the seller and it is.

And its then you get the usual spiel of 'yeah it only needed a bumper'  etc.

Googling this subject it seems that its not possible to get an accurate report of damage.

Try someone like copart and buy one unfixed, then you'll know the damage for sure. My C1 came from there and wasn't even fixed, still sports the aerodynamic improvements to the front wing now 😄
