DonPeffers Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Can I ask tex are the Plays-kool carbon effect front cycle wings priced per pair as the website isn't clear and no circumference of wing quoted, just the width ie 230 or 260 etc.? Also Westfield have recently had discount codes shown in the traders section and 20% was available mid March and 15% early May. If plays-kool are selling a pair for £51 then I would say they must be cheapest item on market with quality as well. I did see another company selling fairly cheap GRP wings but poor product reviews and T & C stated no returns which doesn't sound legal but gives an idea of the company's approach. Many folk say the carbon effect wings fall apart quickly but my only problem has been with the p/s one-.......must stop hitting drain holes. If we are in for tax rises post-crisis then likely we will all be looking for bargains. Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 The Westfield ones are designed to pass IVA whereas the cheeper alternatives would need a lot of additional rubber trim on the edges to pass the test. the design of moulds for the two types is very different and the more complex nature of the Westfield mould is reflected in the overall price. you get what you pay for as they say. tex Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 Hmmmm I think we'll have to agree to disagree.. It's not every part I will add.. Quote
jeff oakley Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 There is a world of difference between Nissan saying what they want and low volume producers. I work in the parts industry and until volume increases in the aftermarket, which is where Westfield source parts from, the prices are higher at the beginning and they get cheaper as volume increase, getting more expensive as volume decreases. As I said quality also drops the older the parts. Take the austin maxi ball joints fitted to many Westfields whoever sells them they are made in one of a handful of factories so prices have risen but quality is not what they used to be. They do the job and are quality tested but they will not last as long as the OE or an OEM manufactured parts would. On the bodywork, you are correct the front wings and body work is expensive but they are in it to make money and unless you want Carbon Fibre we are a captive market. For members there is a huge advantage in being part of this club as many of us can tell people where to get parts of good quality at the best prices but as I said before many owners will just want to buy everything in one go from one source regardless of cost as for them convenience is key Quote
tex Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 I just want to see Westfield survive, they won't if they don't encourage custom Quote
