tex
Front cycle wings, carbon effect plastic 205 wide Westfield and playskool Think they'd do more trade if they check once in a while what's out there
FRENCHWSE
these one for
Captain Colonial
Are the second ones carbon effect? The Westfield ones are. Who’s the second supplier? What’s the quality like? Just trying to ensure we compare apples with apples IYSWIM.
tex
The 2nd ones are carbon effect plastic for 205's, maybe very slight shape difference ie Westfield ones are more rounded, but it's still only plastic. They're from playskool, I bought some black one and they are fantastic quality.. Can't fault them. I've painted them now mind. With the recent increase in companies going into troubles I'd just like to think that Westfield were at least competitive and I'm sure they would get more custom

FRENCHWSE
@tex, do you screw them or stick them ?
Steve (sdh2903)
Its like comparing main dealer parts prices to eurocarparts. Main dealer will always (almost) charge more. Because they can.

Pro Bolt Use wide 6mm dome head ally bolts and wide ally washers to suit.. Underneath use 6mm stainless nyloc nuts. Keep the excess bolt length short so it doesn't catch the tyre

They've been sometimes reasonable prices with me to be fair but again playskool are selling rear wheel arch protectors which are well cheaper. Steve (sdh2903)
I know what your saying but they will have a larger overhead and also development costs to cover. The parts guys have been aligning more of the parts to more reasonable prices from what ive seen lately. One area that this is very lacking in though is bodywork which still seems way inflated. Some of the bodywork prices are eye-watering.
tex
Tell me, I needed some new panels recently as I was respraying the car, V8 style engine cover as I fell on it... Rear arches... Would of been over £1000 for 3 bits... I repaired them best I could for now

AlanHodge
Think they'd do more trade if they check once in a while what's out there Hard to disagree with this, I ordered a set of hinges for some wind deflectors and 8 X M5 x 16 button head stainless steel screws which when delivered came in at £0.79 each. jeff oakley
This comes up time after time and as Captain says we need to compare equally. Westfield cater for a wide range of customers and many just want to get everything from one source. The few pounds saved shopping around from other sites is not worth the time saving sourcing from Westfield gives them and certainty it fits correctly. Also Westfield will have to have a lot of paperwork to back up supply. I seem to recall they had a recall on a part which they could do easily as the company back up was there. I deal with a lot of internet parts suppliers and when we have had a recall to implement many haven't got a clue where parts went. For others using parts and saving money is part of the fun, but it takes longer. Westfield will never be the cheapest or should we expect them to be in reality, we need them there in 10 years time and beyond.

And that will be the death of them... Staying competitive is the be all in any business... Selling products twice the price is just lazy. There's no product testing, no QA R&D dept testing bodywork, but I'm guessing it's designed on a jig, make a mould, and job done. Same process as any other company. So justifying a high price is just silly. I can understand it with a porsche part or a Japanese suspension unit etc, there is costs involved with developing it.. A plastic front wing? Sorry but it's not the same set up as major manufacturers. They could quite easily change suppliers but are being lazy. I've worked at Nissan for 30 yrs and see their part cost system in action, they basically tell the suppliers we want it for this price and it has to be made to the right quality in the right time and traceable. There's nothing stopping Westfield following suit other than being lazy. After all they want people to use them.. So looking after customers is always going to be first priority. This instance I'm positive lots of owners are put off by staggering part costs.
