Hi all,

On a rare shopping trip in Westy last week, filled up and foolishly left the locking part of the silver alloy cap on my tonneau. Obviously then lost on a corner somewhere. Would someone by any chance have a centre locking cap or even the full assembly for sale? Thanks Bill

I have done this after buying a new one to replace the one that came with car which was keyless only to discover it behind the seat where it went after braking I can only assume. 😡

Still driving with an unlockable petrol cap!!

I have a spare but no key for it!

Hi,

I have no problem with no keys as I never used to lock mine anyway. How much do you want for it and I only need the cap really to go straight into the current housing.

It doesn’t bother me about the key either now but don’t want to sell my spare as I will do it again

Sorry

Good idea Craig. Did you buy it or was it on the car already ?

It came like that from the factory so cant claim any patent rights.

Its just a piece of stainless wire.

I did buy a stainless tether for my go pro just in case the mounting was hit by something.

Thanks Craig that’s perfect. Couldn’t find a fuel cap tether. Didn’t think of a GoPro tether.

Hi Nic,

Stainless tether should throw up a few on ebay...

The tether is a requirement for IVA and is available at many outlets. However I found it interferes with the locking mechanism and have now removed it but I have left the fuel cap off more than once, now put it in my pocket at refills.

Easier to leave it off, not a MOT requirement.

Not true; an FW rear has the filler cap horizontal, and the teather drops straight into the tank, easy. ZK cars aren't like this, the tether has to go round two awkward bends to drop into the tank, or be very short to avoid the bends completely. Either way, it rapidly becomes a pain in the rear. I even tried replacing my home made tether with an official kit from Newman, that make the petrol cap, same problem.
