Half hood supports

Thought I would share how I spent a couple of hours yesterday.

 

I picked up a couple of telescopic washing line props from Aldi recently

 

 

I had to modify the hook at the end so that it would fit over the windscreen surround oncethe hood is first attached.

 

 

The hook is lined with soft rubber so should protect the hood OK.

 

I cut the prop so that it will fit in the hood bag - retaining as much of the larger diameter tube as possible for strength reasons.

 

I then used a 44mm p-clip to attach to the rollbar

 

 

Obviously haven't been able to try out on the road yet but the hood doesn't have as much give.

 

Here is the support in place without the hood fitted

 

 

 

Look forward to trying it on the open road soon hopefully.................

What did you do at the windscreen to allow the plastic channel on the hood to fit over these?

With the hood fitted to the windscreen and lying inside out on the bonnet you can fit the support. You then bring the hood back over the supports and attach at the rear of the car in the usual way.

Ahh nice one. Didn't realise the hood wasn't bonded on to surface
