I fitted this passenger foot rest  https://www.ompracing.com/en_gb/car-kart-parts/pedalsets-footrests/oa-1866.html

 

The pic on their website makes is look like a flat item. It should have a rear upstand. Here's mine fitted. You can decide how far fore or aft to fit it etc.

 

 

I'll leave others to advise on a suitable Alternator for your engine and you stay safe!

For the footrest, see this thread from a couple of years ago. I've got a short-A*** wife too, but didn't want a fixed foot-rest in case someone else wanted a ride, so I shaped one out of a dense block of chip-foam and carpeted it (pics in the thread).

Hi all, I used a block of sponge that wedges in the passenger footwell for my son, easily removed for who ever is riding shot gun.

After replacing several failed cheap alternators (always because they failed when I had no time to find a real alternative!) I finally have a decent one installed. 
 

Have a look at https://www.powerlite-units.com they were very helpful and the product is of good quality (although I do admit I have yet to give it a true multi-year test!)
